Anyone aware of known problems or fixes you have found to overclocking CPU's in Vista 32bit?

I am trying to overclock my AMD x2 3800+ and it works fine in XP but won't go work in VISTA (I have a dual boot system.) In Vista it sometimes shows the desktop but very quickly it reboots. The following are my stats and my settings used to overclock:

System:
Asrock 939Dual Sata 2 board, AMD x2 3800+, 2 1 gig sticks of G.SkillDual channel PC3200 Ram with heat spreaders,Antec NeoPower 480 watt PSU, 250Gig Sata2 Drive, 160gig ide drive, dvd/rw drive, dvd drive.

Settings:
Overclock mode CPU, PCIE Async
PCIE Frequency 100
Boot Failure Guard Enabled
Spread Spectrum Disabled
Cool n Quiet Disabled
Dual Core Support Enabled

Processor 2400 x 10
Processor Voltage 1.400v

CPU-NB Link Speed 600 (ie, 3x)
CPU-NB Link width 16
NB-SB Link Speed 600 (ie, 3x)
NB-SB Link Width 16

Assuming your system doesn't reboot once it boots to Vista while it is not overclocked, that just means that your overclock isn't stable, and Vista has exposed that fact. Of course, you might just have a driver that doesn't agree with Vista (whether or not it's Vista "certified").

Hmm......That is what I thought But the same overclock settings work fine in XP for long periods of time. And yes when I don't overclock in Vista it is stable. I haven't changed any drivers for a while. The last change was a couple of weeks ago for my ati 850xt which didn't cause any problems in Vista not overclocked.

Well, I can only pass along what others have noticed. I for one will never buy Vista, but the people who've bought it say what I was telling you earlier.

Vista is much more sensitive to bad overclocks.

When I built my current rig, I installed XP Pro and overclocked my E6400 to 2.66GHz, and it was rock stable (apparently) for two months.

When I installed Vista 64 HP, performance was terrible, and I was getting BSoD galore. All the problems were solved going back to stock speeds.

I had to tweak my OC a lot to get it stable under Vista. In the end, I managed to get a higher OC in Vista than what I originally got in XP (now I'm running 2.98GHz w/ 4GB of RAM and 1.28vCore and very stable). It just took a lot of tweaking and trial and error.

Thanks myocardia and Noema....I am glad to hear that Vista gives others problems with Overclocking. I need to regroup and consider my options.
