Mine shipped too...just as I cancelled it! I got in on the JVC deal from amazon for $44.95 that's now back up to $64.95.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to try each one out, and give one as a Christmas present.

I was about to say wait a second because I remembered the KLH KD1220 DVD player has component outputs. But you're right, it doesn't do progressive output. :p

There's a radioshack DVD player today is $29.99. Seems hit or miss on quality, much like some Apex models. It's only progressive scan with component cables. According to VCDHelp, it plays everything (VCDs, SVCDs, etc). Some complain about DVD+ media.

Mine was just delivered at work (Pasadena, CA). Shipped from Scottsdale, AZ. I ordered last Sunday just before midnight.

I'll try it this weekend with some burned SVCDs, MP3 CDs and CDRW, etc, and post back here. I don't have any burned DVD-type disks, so I can't test that. Now if only it would play MPEG4 avi's! (Yes, I know it's not supposed to! ;-)

Ordered mine too. Great news that it plays dvd+r fine because I have a mega spindle of it. To be honest, I purcahsed it mostly for the karaoke feature. Uber cool and for this price, if it is a rebadged Apex, it's a no-brainer if you need a standalone dvd player!

The rebate says one per name, per address. Does this mean my roomates could use a rebate too? What if I put them all on my credit card? I'd like to get a couple as gifts if anyone has any ideas how this could be done.

Thanks

Has anybody received this yet? I would like to know if it includes (I doubt it though) any discs or mics.
The same player at Costco.com: "Also included are 2 professional microphones and 5 CD+G karaoke disks".

Those of you who have received their units please reply whether you can turn it into a region-free player or not.
Thanks

Thanks OP! Took a gamble on this one, and I'm very satisfied.

It's played everything; CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW. It can also play raw mpegs, DVD MP3's, etc. The only thing it doesn't do is Divx/Xvid and WMA. Nice looking and seems better quality than other cheap DVD players.

For $30 bucks (less if you use the $5 coupon floating around), you can't go wrong with this.:D

Don't know if you can do it once and for all, but you can easily change it from the remote control - all Country Codes are selectable from the Setup menu.

Hey, thaanks for the deal.

I took a chance and is very satisfied. But it is not perfect.

I has a large collection of SVCD disks (from recording TV shows into CDR disks). It plays great (480x480 @2800kbps, 480x360 @2000kbps, 360x288 @1350kbps). It also plays DVD great.

Now the not so good part. It won't play VCD. It could be that my VCD disk is kind of screwy. Also, it has the plainest looking remote I had ever seen. My wife loved the remote, but I wished it will have more functions (buttons) on it.

Overall, I am extremely happy with it.

I think it is the default DVD langauge. And, this machine is not rebaged Apex 1100W or 1100WB. I borrowed remote from a friend and wal-mart, if reomte does not work, it should not be the same machine.
