So I'm hosting an event/festival this coming weekend for the Vietnamese New Year, and during it I'm supposed to be asking people in the audience to donate money for the club that's presenting this event. Most of them will be college kids and there'll also be a bunch of adults there too..however I really don't know how to approach them for such a thing. It'll be about halfway through the show when it happens..what's going to happen is, is that there's going a lion dance, and at the end of it I go on the stage, and announce that the lion is going to go around collecting money..

So far I've gotten something like this "Well ladies and gentlemen, we hope you've enjoyed the show so far tonight, and tonight's performances would certainly not be possible without all your generous help and support. However in order to continue providing such events and festivities in the future, along with our Saturday tutorial programs and other community programs, we will still need all the help that we can get. After all we're poor starving college students who need alcohol money too. But in all seriousness, any little bit helps..and just remember, karma strikes strongest on Tet [New Year's]."

Definitely needs some editing if I want any results..I know if I heard that I wouldn't be too motivated to give. What can I add/reduce to it? Any help is appreciated..

But in all seriousness, any little bit helps..and just remember, tax season is coming up, and Uncle Sam definitely favors the charitable."

Are you going to give them a tax receipt?

Near the end, just pass a hat around.

Or leave a bucket with the word DONATIONS near the front.

uncle sam doesn't give a damm about "the charitable" right now unless you are donating money to tsunami victims. you'd look a bit foolish throwing that out there when donations to your cause, assuming you are a registered nonprofit organization.

Just do what the Chruch does... pass around a plate... there's enough suckers there, you might get some stragglers if you have the event right outside your local house of worship... :D

No, what's funny is how you weren't even around when that went down, but you are joining in anyways. Futhermore, I am amazed by the amount of neffing you must do to get 500 posts in ten days.
