Is it worth it to make your own Starbucks style Mocha Frappachinos? Or is too much of a hassle, and paying $4.13 for a vente justified?

Look for the three dots, or the eyes. Drill into two of them. Drain the coconut water. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes. The shells will crack. Wrap the coconut in a bag and WHACK it on the hardest surface around. It should break on the crack. Cut the flesh into 4 pieces inside each half, and you should be able to just pick the pieces out one at a time.

Of course it's worth it. Blend together some cream, some ice, some coffee, and lots of sugar, and maybe some vanilla extract. Experiment as you see fit, and top with some whipped cream, flavored if you like.

Depending on where you are in the US, all you will be able to commonly find are dried morels. They should last for years, and you can just reconstitute them in water or wine, and then treat them as normal morels. The reconstitution instructions should be on the package.

If you are discussing fresh morels....well, you're a lucky man. 🙂

Allrecipes is decent, but some of their recipes are subpar. The food network is pretty decent, but it's always fun to come up with your own recipes too.

use fake sugar instead of real sugar, and go easy on the crust.

On a budget, a nice chuck pot roast can't hurt at all. Look for a "7 bone" roast, then pan sear it and braise it with some seasonings.
basic recipe.

Also, for a steak alternative to ribeyes I like chuckeyes. They're very similar but cost about half as much per pound.

Although I love the abundance of fresh seafood and fresh produce in California, the lack of morels makes me sad 🙁

You can normally find them in moist hot areas near dead trees. After you have had a couple of rainy days with high temps would be a good time to go. To store them you should lightly spray with water and store in a cool place.
