NGL if I started losing my hair I'd be toying with a transplant, the tech has gotten better over the years. It's also crazy expensive though, and I think in some cases you still need to be on meds for rest of your life. If that's the case, skip the transplant and just go on finasterade.

On the other hand I'm a few years away from 40 (feels weird to say that) and still have my hair so hopefully I'm good for a while.

no, I didn't even click the link!
DHT be bad.
finasteride good.
Saw Palmetto may be good.
Pumpkin seed oil may be good.

(I know I'm doomed because my dad sure was bald).

Not some cases, all. You’re expected to be on finasteride for the transplant to hold and your hair not to just keep falling out post transplant.

If you’re concerned, you can take the medication as a prophylactic before you start losing significant hair. It’s pretty cheap and you can get through the initial 3 month break-in period when you start it that generally comes with some side-effects that usually clear up after those initial months.

Yeah if that's the case then no point in even getting the surgery, and just get on finasterade. It blocks DHT which is what causes baldness in first place. Genetics will dictate whether or not you are affected more or less by it.

I wouldn't want to be dependent on a med for the rest of my life though. On the other hand there are studies that it can also help prevent prostate cancer, so there's that.

I'm not at a point where I have to worry about that anyway.
