Asians: What kind of rice do you eat?

I eat jasmine rice, never eat rice such as Uncle Ben or brown/white rice from Sams Club or grocery stores.

I buy my jasmine rice <label said it was from Thailand> from Hong Kong supermarket in Dallas or Houston. It is about $!0 to $12 per 25lb bag.

I am not asian, but I eat a lot of rice, and I buy jasmine rice. I have a huge 25-pound bag of basmati rice in my cupboard that my mom bought me, though. It tastes like crap--overly dry when cooked and unpleasant in taste. I don't know how Indians can stand it.

what you asked is long grain and short grain.

long grain is the one I ususally eat.
short grain is the sushi rice, aka korean rice.

Until I was married, I ate the long grain stuff growned in Texas. After I got married, I ate the short grain stuff. I like both actually and it really depends on where we eat. I buy 50 lb. bags of this stuff just like what my parent's did all the time.

It's not long grain short grain, if you go look at short grain rice adn then compare it to sushi rice, it's still different.
