Asians should not take the subway in NY

Recently, Wai Kuen Kwok was killed when a black man pushed him in front of an incoming subway train.

The news reports pointed out all the times this has happened recently:

There have been three other incidents in recent years that involved a person being pushed onto the tracks.

In April 2013, a train ran over a man desperately clawing at a Manhattan subway platform after being pushed onto the tracks by a homeless suspect with whom he'd been arguing.

In December 2012, another homeless man was arrested for pushing a Queens straphanger in front of a Times Square train that fatally crushed him.

And later the same month, a mumbling woman pushed a man to his death in front of a subway train in Queens.

What they failed to point out is that the ethnicity of all the victims is Asian.

In the April 2013 incident, the victim was Shou Kuan Lin and his assailant was a Guyanese man.

In the December 2012 case, the victim was Ki-Suck Han and he was killed by a black man upset that someone else dirtied his Timberland boots.

In the second December 2012 case, the victim was Sunando Sen and he was killed by a Hispanic woman.

I don't know why Asians are being targeted this way, but it doesn't look good for them.

I like your logic. In the history of the New York subway system, 3 Asians have been pushed in front of trains. Therefore, no Asians should use the subway. You can't fault that.

And that is why I usually go to the end of the platform, watch who's around me, and have my back to a wall.

And that is why I usually push anyone else I could find on the platform down onto the tracks so no one else is left to push me

There are signs posted all over the stations that say something like 200 people were hit by trains just last year. But no excuse not to make a racist thread!

In Hong Kong it was gated off with a glass wall and sliding doors to let people on/off. You would think NYC could install something so basic?

Interesting that the criminals are black and the victims are asian.

When I was in college, almost all of the on campus crimes were black criminals attacking asian victims. It was such a problem that I remember there being signs around some parts of campus explicitly warning asian students to be careful.

What campus was this?

I am sure Holder/DoJ will jump right on to investigate these criminal acts for civil right violations. Riiiiigggghtttt.

Correction, 98 fatalities in 2013. They were all delicate geishas brutally murdered by darkies!

Nearly all other cases are suicides or accidents (drunks falling in by themselves, jumping down to get something dropped).

The OP is not wrong in that it seems that the recent homicides have had asian victims. On one hand, the sample size is really small. On the other hand, asians make up 8-9% of the total population in NYC so it is a bit odd that the victims haven't had more variety.

Anyone can post signs. It was probably Madoka.

IIRC, estimates to install platform screen doors on the NYC subway are in the 500-750M range. That's a lot of expense for something that doesn't add capacity and can't get federal funding to help build out.

Just like the Jewish people who were targeted during the knock out craze.

Who knows?

It's these fantasmo Matrix-cum-Kung-Fu movies that have put into our conscience that Asians could jump out of the pit by running up the wall, flipping over backwards, kick off the nearest support column and back to the platform before the train comes. We're just testing it out to see if those moves are CGI or what.....
