okay, so i need to go and get a haircut... my mom says to find an asian because our hair is different from white people, and so it will just look weird if a white person cuts it (stereotype of course).

is this what you have found in your experience?

I used to get my hair cut by this black guy named Oscar. He was a very different guy. The chairs were you waited were set up in rows facing the chairs so that if he felt the spirit move him, he could preach to the people waiting to get their hair cut.

Anyway, I didn't think that "white people" hair was THAT much different from "Asian people" hair, but I WILL say that I always thought that when Oscar cut my hair, he cut my hair as though it were "black people" hair and while it didn't look bad, it didn't look quite right....

Asians cut their hair? I always thought that their hair didn't grow because they have no facial hair. Wow, what a world we live in, what a world indeed. Oh yeah, aren't asian women's vaginas sideways too?

Yes. It's very true. I've gotten haircuts in 7 different states :) and Asian Americans definitely need a different method of cutting

You should ask a member of the Three Blades. Why don't you ask Akasaka-San?
Sorry...just finished Shenmue.

Just go to any barber and tell him you want your hair cut like Moe from the three stooges. You'll be fine.

My mum cuts my hair. Shes really good and I can get what I want EXACTLY:D

I have it short but not even and I spike it up in places and have the 'mess' look but its a bit more refined then that. Doesn't come out good in pictures because of my black hair and shadows forming etc, so it all looks one big mess but it looks much different in real life and light.

I colour it blue at times but this only lasts for a day. My mum has the same complex about me having it dyed blue semi permantely for a few weeks. Well get it done sometime though:D Only the ends tip a really neon blue. Always wanted this but never and still don't ahve the chance until I get out of the house and to Uni!

Oh wait, more stereotype jokes...

Asians actually cut hair as a profession? I thought they only ran nail salons and massage parlours.

I thought hair cutting was already part of that beauty shop stereotype...

I dont particulary like getting my hair cut by an asian lady.... they seem to have a hard time understanding english. So when i say cut 1/2 an inchi off... they cut my hair so it is only 1/2 an inch long. Anywaz... if you a typical asian then you dont even need to go to a hair salon.... most asians just shave the sides and cut the top realy short. It doesnt take an expert to do that. I'm asian too... but I dont dig the shaved look. Go for the messed up look, more natural and it doesnt look too bad when the damn wind messes up your hair. I'm in UC Berkeley rite now and its about 50% asian, lots of gurls here dont really like the shaved look too much... i guess it makes them seem less mature.

"massage" parlors = ;)
Anyways, I don't know how I should get my hair cut, and I need some suggestions. In january I actually went to a barbershop for once, and got the sides and back cut so I could spike it. And I haven't cut it since then, and gravity has tamed the beast that is my hair. It looks pretty bad IMO, and I want to spike it or get the out of bed look, and dye it, but it's impossible right now. My hair just falls when i put gel in it, and i don't want to use wax or glue, and it looks like crap. I need to get some pics later... And some people are saying i should get cornrows, dreads, or even fro it out :Q So I dunno what to do =\

Interesting. Is the reverse true? If so, I better stop going to the little Korean gal that cuts my hair before I start looking like Gopunk.

i have both good and bad experiences with both asian and white hair dressers....

1st key is finding a pictcure of the haircut that you would like to have ....
i.e. go on the net and look around to find a haircut and then print it out :)
if you do, most likely they hairdresser will not cut your way too far off the way you would like to

2nd key is finding a reputable hair salon, yes it will be epensive ($30+) but it is definitely worth it :)
two places i goto are 1) toni and guy (sp??) and 2) Regis'

3rd find a hair dresser who knows how to cut your hair and stick with him or her :)

good luck!

soccerbud34 has it right. do that and you're not gonna go wrong. there is a difference between the $7 haircut and the $25 one.
