It would have taken longer than 10 seconds to stop the truck, get off it, go over to her, check her pulse, and then resume driving.

But I agree, if everyone was already off the plane, they should have stopped and taken care of her.

what about the guy WHO WAS FUCKING POINTING AT HER? or the 5 that walked around her!?

nobody had to get out of the damn truck. there was a guy that almost tripped over her then stood over her yelling at the truck to watch out.

It would have taken him 5 fucking seconds to feel for a pulse. he didn't..nobody did.

The whole SFFD response would look less shady if the fire chief didn't ban helmet cams after the initial helmet cam footage surfaced showing the SFFD running over the kid.

It would also be less shady if the SFFD didn't claim nobody seen her and she was covered in foam.

again, how do you know that somebody didn't check her pulse prior to this video, and with all of the adrenaline rushing he thought there was no pulse and messed up at that point?

One of the firefighters told investigators that he did a visual assessment and believe Ye was dead, but did not check her vitals.

oh ok gotcha. i'm gonna chalk it up to adrenaline rushing and a hectic situation. i still don't think they should be criminally punished or anything. this was 1 major fuckup, but out of how many thousands of successful incidents?

also what about professionalism? they were in such a hurry to "save" the plane and perhaps people on. That they couldn't take a minute to move OR at least mark the body? so instead they decided to crush it?

nobody is saying they should be criminally punished. I have no trouble with the civil lawsuit. they were negligent and if they would have taken a minute that young lady may be alive.

he probably had to do it to stop basement dwelling forum trolls from continually second guessing his people who were putting their lives on the line to save others.

Yeah, it's probably best that no one watches the watchmen.

Am i more qualified? no but common Sense SAYS check to make sure someone is dead before you run her over.

At the very least have some fucking common sense and move the body so it is not destroyed.

"Sorry ma'am, we weren't able to save your husband and five children because we had to stop to move a dead body and didn't make it before the plane exploded."

"Sorry your leg is no longer attached to your body sir. We had to stop and move a dead body and didn't make it before the burning chunk of metal crushed you."

Makes perfect sense.

The public, including myself, is not necessarily qualified to opine on a lot of things, but I do think people can look at the outcomes of particular situations and ask appropriate questions.

In this case, I think the outcome was poor. When you have a catastrophic incident, and 1 of 3 fatalities is possibly not due to the incident itself but from actions of the first responders (we will never know if she would have survived if they didn't run her over), there's probably room for improvement.

I accept the possibility that the best practices in the world could not have made a difference given the circumstances, but how do we know that without some sort of qualified review?

there has already been a qualified review and it wasn't done by anyone posting in this thread.

sucks but mistakes happen. you never know how someone's going to react in that situation. i've seen some crazy stuff on the track. one time a guy highsided and his girlfriend jumped over a fence and ran over to him. this is on a live track. Another time a guy low sided and tried to run over to a corner station, which was across the track (which was still live). People do irrational things when they perceive it as life or death.

How about having a pilot that knows what the hell they are doing be in the cockpit. I put full blame on the pilot in command.

This is a worse case scenario for the responders. A very clear day. No prior mayday. Plane crashes at approach end of a runway without warning. These guys are prepared but they do not sit in their trucks 24/7 watching the runway.
