Asian radish?

Sluggo

Lifer
One of my customers (Korean) offered me some asian radishes. He said they are great for making a rub for steraks and stuff before cooking them on a grill.

Anyone know more about these, and how you make a rub for meat with them?

My customer and myself have a little bit of a language barrier, so this is what I "THINK" we were talking about.

I'm guessing they're the same ones they use in Japan, and there they're called "daikon."

They are great for a lot of things, especially sauces. I wouldn't know about making a rub for them, that's a very Korean thing. The Japanese either eat them raw, pickled, cooked, or in soups and stuff.

they are called daikon, or in korean "moo" and can be found at local korean/ japanese grocery store.

what's a rub? i haven' heard that term for a steak before..

Something you rub on a steak, like a paste-type marinade.

huh...good stuff, but can't say that I've ever heard the combination of it and steaks...let us know how it goes. I'll tell my mom if things go well. 🙂

I like to grate daikon and mix it with some ponzu (the citrus soy sauce). It makes a good dip for thin sliced meats (like in shabu-shabu).
