Asian question...

I?ve always wondered this ? can, for example, someone from China recognize someone from Japan (and vise versa), and the same for Vietnam, Korea, etc, just by looking at them? Strange question, I know. I?ve always heard they can?t, but I don?t know if that?s true or not, so that?s why I?m asking 🙂

yes, somewhat... i would say 75-90% possible...(my parents can, pretty easily)

there are those little flukes tho which are hard to tell..heh

After you've been around a lot of APAs, especially when you know who they are and what background they are, it gets easier and easier to determine. Although there are always some people like me, who are Chinese but look very much like a Korean 😉 Evens Koreans think I'm Korean at times ^_^

yes, I can usually tell fairly easy what they are. It helps a lot that most of the ones around here dress to the stereotype for that certain race.

Put some whitewashed abercrombie azn's next to each other though with similar haircuts and it gets a little tougher 🙂

usually. personally, i've had several korean girls tell me i looked korean, i'm chinese. heh. 🙂

Usually. Plus there are other clues other than just looks, such as accent, clothes, mannerisms, etc, which though they aren't always accurate can serve as clues.

yep. I would say you can get it upto 95% accurate if you know little about each culture and is patient 🙂

each country has distinctive fashion styles and what's hot at the time.

I refuse to take that test, since Asians comprise of more than THREE fcuking country... (well, I click on the first five pix and give quit)

in a way, yes. there some stereotypes one can go by...that sorta work in general. kinda like how you can tell conan is irish. but kinda iffier. as with all stereotypes 50% chance of being wrong😛

what i donnt get is how people can't tell asian languages apart. pretty damn obvious, same way most european languages are pretty obviously different. i guess some people grow up sheltered.

Well chinese people are the hardest to tell, because the northeasternpart of chinese people could potentially look like japanese, and the southern chinese might look like vietnamese.

Can white people tell other white people apart? irish from german, french from english, etc - I wouldn't include americans because they're a mutt of everything.
