well you can do the wong kar wai movies, chungking express, fallen angels, in the mood for love.

yi yi

I thought about this, but I thought it might not be diverse enough.

There's this one movie..i can't remember the english translation..but in chinese it's called "Huao Ze" (my ping ying is really bad)...

it's kinda long, and might be boring to some..but it's a very powerful and moving story. Dunno if you've heard of it...

"The Story of Ricky"

Comedy I think.

Also, on a serious note, another vote for My Sassy Girl.

BTW: How are they gonna get the movie reels for these?

"Eat Drink Man Woman"
Shaolin Soccer and My Sassy Girl for comedy relief
Better Luck Tomorrow just released
NativeSunshine was talking about "To Live", and that'd be one of my personal Chinese films. (it's so damn depressing!)
Ummmm...lots of action flicks, if you want to go old school Hard Boiled or something, or Once Upon a Time in China (how about Drunken Master?)

And lastly, I can't believe no one's mentioned Chungking Express yet.

I'll second Eat Drink, Man Woman.

Good flick, the food in that movie is awesome, it makes me hungry just thinking about it. Oh, the story is good too, but for some reason I keep thinking about the food.

In addition to Eat Drink Man Woman, another great Asian cuisine film is Tampopo.
