Ashleigh Banfield....banned.   NBC News dumped her

smart move would be to keep her
that would show that msnbc respects the freedom of speech and wants debates for everything

She should have kept crossing her legs like Laurie Dhue. Criticizing your employer, which is owned by GE and MS for being soft on the sitting administration is not a good idea.

I rode a 200 kilometer Randonneur USA ride with her and some of her friends. That was about two years ago and she was in great shape. She has a very sharp mind and an equally sharp tongue. We had a lot of banter back and forth the whole ride and the rest of the guys kept looking at me like I was playing with fire. I knew I recognized her from somewhere but just couldn't place her. Then, about mile 56 at a rest stop, one of the guys called her Ashleigh, which was the first time I heard her name. I said, "As in Banfield". She said: "Yes, care for a mint big mouth?!" 🙂 We had a war of words the whole rest of the ride, with me referring to her as "the starlet". The guys she was riding with never said a word! Very stoic bunch. She and I and one other woman, a nurse, did all the talking. I was talking when I was pulling and she would say: "shut up and ride". 🙂 Having her along made the ride much easier.

She reminds me a lot of my wife, with that deep and wide independent streak. You gotta' love women who have the balls to stand up and be counted.

I hope she lands on her feet.

Supertool:

She has great legs!

But she'd never go there. I doubt she'll ever be someone's corporate toad.

Those are group rides with check points to make sure you finish within the alloted time. Most folks have no trouble making the times for the shorter rides. The rides are 200, 300, 400, 600, and 1000 km each year. Every 4th year they have a wordwide ride which you may have heard of. It's called Paris-Brest-Paris. It's a bear! 🙂

Everyone has biases, and I'm thankful for them because they usually are the catalyst for some perspective. When our journalists become robots I won't be reading their writing. I'd rather read Novak and Buckley than insipid prose by some "dispassionate" journalist. Newsweek is one of the best examples of insipid writing.

Shes repeatedly acted unprofessional, and Im not refering to her diatribe about her co-workers and the media. So of course NBC isnt going to rehire her. There have also been some not so flattering, but very persistent rumors about her since she worked as a local reporter in Dallas. Lets just say she uses her assests to her advantage, or has allegedly done so on several occassions in the past.

And yeah she is hot.

Well Jesus, Mary, and Joeseph, who the hell is going to turn her down? I'd turn on my country for a 6 pack and a piece of that ass.

the 6-pack comes before the ass, thanks for the clarification 😀

"Pulling" is sitting in front and doing the hard work while everyone behind you can drop their wattage down about 20-30%. If you've ever watched a bike race you will notice that the lead constantly changes because top amateurs and pros use a rolling pace line or some version of it.

In order to talk you must be riding below your anaerobic threshhold (AT). Most of the randonneur rides are done at 18-22 mph, so they aren't particularly taxing considering that you are riding in a pack. I am actually stronger at sprinting than long rides so pulling for 5 minutes is not that stressful, and, thus, I can talk, and it's usually a blue streak. 🙂 FWIW, many guys do not like to talk while riding. I've always talked. When I was a kid racing crits I would be cracking jokes while racing, a trait which did not endear me to a lot of people. 🙂

So, now I'm here where I can "talk" all I want and be ignored. 🙂
