Ok I know they played the wrong vocal track ("pieces of me" as supposed to "autobiography"), but did the band played the wrong song too? which song was the band playing for?

I heard the band switched up to try and cover the mistake, so I'd believe they were playing Autobiography which was correct... then all of a sudden you hear her voice come on for the first song... she looked so confused.

The band started playing the correct song (Autobiography), but being the talented musicans they are, they switched to "Pieces of Me" as soon as they heard the recording play. Too bad Ashley couldn't do the same, but in all honesty, she was screwed no matter what she did. Unless, of course, she stopped everything, and did a Mariah Carey-esque acapella version of Autobiography to prove she could sing.

I am interested to see if the same band plays with her tonight. If I were them, I'd quit and make sure everyone knew that she was the screw-up, not them.

Also, I think the title of this thread needs to be changed to "Ashlee Simpson to Sing Live Tonight".

Yes, SNL edited out the vocal track for the West Coast.

The question is who programmed the wrong vocal track. If it's the band that programmed it wrong, then she's right in saying "my band played the wrong song". Now the lip syncing is another issue, pretty bad but not uncommon in live shows.

The best part is that she has a band at all. They don't need to be all that good at what they do, they just need to LOOK the part. I especially like the really grungy guitarist standing on the right. Do they think that gives her "street cred" or something?
