Asetek Vapochill

Hey everybody. Yes I am kinda new around here. I have read a few interesting articles about the Asetek Vapochill, and I have some cash from a car accident settlement, so I was thinking that it would be a good long-term investment, as CPUs are continually getting hotter...and hotter.

Yes its about $900 USD. But it could last for years.

Do any of you own this or have any suggestions or advice for me?

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with phase-change coolers, but I know Shimmishim loves his Prometeia (now NVentive).

There are typically two reasons people will get that.

1. They live in extremely warm climates and being able to keep their 100w processor under -15c is a bonus. 😀
2. They want the extreme cooling to overclock even farther.

If you got a new motherboard and memory (assuming you have a good proc) you might have a serious candidate for Option 2. But I seriously doubt that temps will keep ramping up so steeply as rumors have it that the P5 will be based upon the low-heat Pentium-M design. And the K8 are already very cool running.

I don't have any experience with phase change cooling either, but I always thought the nVentive/Chip Con Prometeia Mach II's were the best when it came to phase change, but I'm not sure. If you want one, someone's selling one on the FS/FT forums for $725 😉 Linky

Welcome to AnandTech, BTW 😀
