Now the hard part begins. Good luck.

Fvck that! I'm 22 years old, working for *the* top investment bank on wall street, nearing 6 figures and going to grad school this fall... her loss.

Sounds like your loss to me. I agree with her. She could do tons better than you. I hope she finds a guy that actually cares about her rather than the acquisition of wealth and "things." One that doesn't think that he can buy someone's love. You're a real piece of work.

That was hardly the point of that post, It's more to illustrate that I'm driven and with bright future. Somehow people always get stuck up on the money issue, which is rather irrelevant.

As a matter of fact, I was the one that pushed her towards applying to a bio PHD as opposed the 1 years MA program she wanted to do .

You're obviously very materialistic and overly proud of your money and things. You fail at life.

You know, I obviously don't know the guys mindset but he may not be that materialstic. I know I was holding onto the material things after the big breakup with my gf, those things don't make your life better in the long run but they def help ease through the pain short term. He's happy and driven and is working his way to success at a young age. Let him hold on to whatever he wants to get over the relationship.

In short: Chill.

Lay off the guy, jackass. Who doesn't prop themselves up after a breakup? It makes you feel better and realize you were wasting your time. This is hardly some in depth psychoanalysis of how he loves material things above all else. The girl sounds like she sucks and if he is bringing in 6 figures then good for him, he will be successful and find someone else who doesn't suck.

You're obviously very materialistic and overly proud of your money and things. You fail at life.

And this upsets you because .... ? My off shot guess is because the figure i threw out exceed your own number. I've also noticed odd bitterness towards investment banks for whatever reason. This isn't really my issue in any case... I just hope you don't flip on everyone that mentions the progress of their career

Either way, materialism is hardly the way to success, however money tends to be a byproduct of success. As I said, my current salary is irrelevant, my ambition is not. If all goes well, I'll be back to broke / grad school this fall. I'm only proud of how far I've come.

If I made 6 figures I'd probably give half of it away...use it in some way to help others. But I'm too busy enjoying life to be making that much money.

Money has nothing to do with success. It is because you think that money is a byproduct of success that you fail at life.

And to the guys that said the girl sucked, yeah right. I still think she was right and could do far better for herself than this guy.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was 10 and I've been riding sportbikes for the past 4 years... no worries :) Riding is the one thing that I've been missing in NYC; I just gotta find some good roads around here.

I am not bitter at all. I enjoy my life. I enjoy it and do not have to buy myself bunches of things to make myself happy.

You are not passing me in life. To think that you are is just to think that you are better than me. Again, another reason why you fail at life.

Again, lay off people. The man is going through a breakup of 2+ years. I know how it is, and how you feel afterwards.

And to the OP...

Good luck with your career. It sounds like something I would love to be doing in 4 years, only in MIS. The girls is stupid, let her go with another guy that will treat her like crap and will be unstable financially.

You're obviously bitter at someone since you came into this thread screaming out "you fail at life" to the OP.

Not bitter at all. The OP is just quite transparent.

Of two us of, you were the one that launched the ad hominems and superiority complex tirade because your lifestyle is obviously better than mine and I'm obviously just a materialistic jackass. As I said, I hope you don't like that in real life... you'd make for great company.

I never said that I was better than you. Just trying to give you a bit of a wake up call because you haven't seemed to have figured it out from your situation is all.

Oh of course you didn't,
me "failing at life" is the wake up call I needed... I hope you have more insightful guidance for my careeer.

Anyway, I'm glad you're happing doing whatever is that you're doing ... and so am I. However, the fact that you've practically exploded upon me talking about my job is probably something you'll have to deal with at some point.

lol you think I exploded on you?

Oh well kid you'll figure things out eventually I hope.
