ASB in HS

What events does your High School ASB give community service hours for? and where are you located (city, state)?

For a general rule, what should an ASB give community service hours for?

How many hours do you spend in it on a daily basis? Do you think some of the events your ASB handles should be considred "community" service? Or as a standard does ASB pretty much extend to include all school related activities as "mandatory" and unlisted?

No one cares about ASB in high school. For that matter, no one cares in college. It's basically a way for people who will never really do anything greater to feel good about themselves.

Yeah because we all know we can become manager of a nice firm just by graduating middle school.

😉

There's no point for me having ASB, cause I don't bother being on their sports teams...
Course I was no good for soccer, and our team won the state championships...

We have Key Club for those who would like to have community service hours, either at football games at a concession stand, or somewhere else (I don't do it either lol)

first you need to realize that a lot of high schools are different

at my school asb had nothing to do with community service other than a member on asb that distributed services to presidents of service clubs on campus.

my high school had too many services clubs that required a certain hours per semester. i was in key club and they required 85 hours a semester. no one did them though.

I know different schools do things differently, and that is exaclty why I'm asking.. to find out how other schools do things, maybe there is a better way of doing things.

I know about Key Club.. I'm in it.. it just seems to me that the ASB at my school requires a lot of "mandatory" things that you dont really get any "reward" or recognition for (at all...)

true true.... you should join Honor Society, the Mathclub, Chess club, and sports.

hmm really.. it seems to me that ASB has the biggest weight when compared to any other club... but it does seem to be a bit of overkill.
