AS5 Vs MX-1

Ever since I got this computer, I've used AS5 (never even bothered with the Shin Etsu on stock cooler). During the winter, when I first built my system, I used the stock cooler and it was loading at 45C. This I found to be a little too high. After that, I bought myself a Freezer64 Pro and decided to use the MX-1 that was preapplied. Soon, I found that the amount was a little too much and it was insulating instead of conducting the heat (40C load). I switched it out for AS5 and it dropped to around 38C load. At a 21C case temp, the CPU was at 37C with AS5 and Freezer64 Pro. Last week, I decided to ask 996GT2 for his MX-1 (we go to the same school) and threw it on my Freezer again. This time around, my CPU's load temps dropped to 35C when Folding with a minimum of 27C at idle. This is after about 72 hours of use compared to fully burned in AS5. I'll keep you guys posted when this stuff burns in further.

Parents' 3.0GHz Pentium 4 Northwood idles at 31C now with the Freezer 4 and MX-1. previously was over 45C on stock intel HSF and whatever generic thermal grease the P4 shipped with

MX-1 was included with 996GT2's Freezer 4 (which was my recommendation in the first place). Normally, it's 7.95 for 2g of MX-1 Vs 5.99 for 3.5g of AS5 at svc.com. I might end up getting some MX-1 for myself and throwing in a Thermalright HR-05 on chipset for better cooling.
