AS3 (Arctic silver) on a P4

How much arctic silver should be on the P4? Should it cover the entire heat spreader or just the center? Going to be using it with an SLK-800 heatsink. A small amount should be put on the CPU and spread around according to the directions. But should the entire core be covered or not?

Shady,

Thanks for the quick response, but should it coat the entire core or just enough in the center?

the pic in the link is very good, except its on to thick. do i like that, but thinner

Yeah, that's definitely too thick. It should be just thick enough so that you don't see the metal part, and no thinner. You do have to cover the entire IHS, since that's what the IHS is for - spread heat over its entire surface.
