Renderings of the new A's ballpark in Fremont were revealed. The A's and Cisco Systems signed a 30 year naming agreement and the ballpark will be called Cisco Field. BARF

hopefully...they will extend bart down to San Jose since Wolf has some influence down there. As of now there is no convenient way to get from the Fremont bart station to the stadium as they would be on opposite sides of the 880.

As long as the 880 expansion finishes before the stadium is completed hopefully traffic will only be similar to how it is now (which is still hellish) on game days.

Traffic will be absolutely terrible on game days. No BART station down there, crowd should be bigger, and traffic is already horrendous in that area.

True. Right now, they are at 66th and Hegenburger Exit (which are Airport exits also) and there is mostly nothing else there except for some commercial places. So traffic isnt much on regular days but on game days, it gets very busy (even though Bart is nearby)

880 in Union city/Fremont is already very congested during morning/evening rush hour. Add that stadium will make it worse on game evenings.

Also, Oakland is a much more central location to the Bay area and people drive down to Oakland (From Marin and Solano county) during the game b/c the drive is ~30-40 min. Moving to Fremont will loose many of those people as the drive will become ~1hr-1.5hrs without traffic. Add rush hour traffic and double that (if not triple).

On the same note you add the San Jose/Santa Clara crowd..San Jose being California's 3rd largest city and much more populated than Marin County. Though I would think Marin-ers lean more toward the Giants.

I do not think this will be approved unless they bring a BART station to the ballpark. Currently 30% of fans get to the stadium by way of BART.

Building this 2 mile BART extension from the existing station will cost a few hundred million.

This is bad news in that now their seats will be waaay more expensive. But its very good news in that the A's should have alot more money for Billy Beane to abuse. The A's teams are going to be ridiculous. Think late 80's all over again.
