That's the nice thing for people into Ford/GM vehicles, there's just so many damn parts available you can practically build a brand new one from a catalog. Us Mopar guys have a much tough (and expensive) time.

I'm no expert on Ford's, but I thought I've heard the 390 is something of a boat anchor. If the goal were speed, I might suggest a different engine.

The 390 is no boat anchor. The 390 is fairly low reving torque monster so it is perfect in a truck. I had one in my 67 Galaxie and loved. Nothing sounds better than a FE block (390s are in the FE family of engines ). You can knock about seventy pounds off it just by going to an aluminum intake and headers are a really good upgrade since the stock log exhaust manifolds are crap.

The thing I'm most worried about is that hole in the floor. I'm gonna have to get someone to cut of that section of metal and weld in a new peice. I also found a store that carries nearly every part I need to restore it.... I'm gonna do drivability stuff and the interior first.

For those that didn't catch it in a previous thread: It's a '74 ford F100 with either 245k on 345k on it. It's a got a 390CI big block V8 in it, and a C6 3 speed automatic transmission. My uncle bought it brand new in '74, gave it to my dad in 93, and now my dad gave it to me.

Love the truck. A guy I used to work with has a '77 I think and he built it up nicely. It's a beautiful truck. I love the lines it has.
