Disclaimer: I know it's old, beat up, primer gray, and ugly. The idea is to restore it, so imagine what it looked like new, and then imagine it looking like that again.

Link to pictures.

The thing I'm most worried about is that hole in the floor. I'm gonna have to get someone to cut of that section of metal and weld in a new peice. I also found a store that carries nearly every part I need to restore it.... I'm gonna do drivability stuff and the interior first.

For those that didn't catch it in a previous thread: It's a '74 ford F100 with either 245k on 345k on it. It's a got a 390CI big block V8 in it, and a C6 3 speed automatic transmission. My uncle bought it brand new in '74, gave it to my dad in 93, and now my dad gave it to me.

Absolutely!

I wish I had the time, place and patience to restore an older vehicle.

Heck ya! :) Is that two gas tanks I see. :) Resto mod baby :D

Look at all the goodies! She has a 390 and a C6 both of those are d@mn-near indestructible. I would say pick up a Jeg's or Summitt Racing book and check it out. Here is what I would do with it:

-- First, fix floorpan, you don't want to be rolling in style and able to look down at the road going by. ;) Plus, that would be dangerous
-- Second, after floorpan section is replaced, get some POR-15 and place on the floorpan to prevent rust. This stuff is great.
-- Fix up the loose ends, wiring, etc.
-- Next, when money permits, pull the 390 and freshen it up with a new cam, intake, and a rebild kit. :)

I hope all this helps, if you have any questions at all, please fell free to PM me. I am a Ford man myself. :)

Yes, it's got two gas tanks. One of them is kinda rusty though and needs to be cleaned out or replaced. I dunno how much it'll cost, but since I'll be doing a little at a time, it'll be less noticeable. I'm definitely going to rebuild or replace the motor fairly soon though. I haven't decided if I'm going to go for a factory stock replacement or something... faster :)

I would suggest reading up on engine rebuilds (you can save a ton of money this way) if you don't feel comfortable about it. More suggestions:

-- Have the engine block acid-vated (sp?) to clean it up and do a overbore on it (.030/.040) depending on cylinder wall wear. Maganfluxing is a good idea too. :)
-- Get a set of .030 over pistons
-- Have the crankshaft cleaned and checked (grind it if neccesary (.010)

I can think of tons more too, by using the parts you already have you can save big time compared to buying a new block, heads, crank, etc. :)

Also, a PAW (Performance Automotive Warehouse) catalog is a good helper too! :)

When the engine & transmission are freshened a little, I promise you the rear tires will spin till you hit belt on the tire casings.......

Second Jegs & Summitt... The hop up source for all things domestic...

Prob settle for checking/changing fluids now, and a carb kit, (the carb kit sounds intimidating, but if you can work on PC innards, you can do a carb kit easily)

I'll post pics of my truck today too... Have most of the major mods done, still have to install the speakers & am waiting on the aluminum full width tailgate protector... Installed the Pioneer deck yesterday, MP3's are so cool in a car..., & I had the windows tinted yesterday too...

I don't know about the mechanical part of it, probably worn out, but it looks knda stylish on the outside. With all the Ford bashing you witness here, it's an amazingly long lifetime for an 'unreliable' car, isn't it?

One of those little rules of thumb, never do a color change on a vehicle... Stick with the orig color.

I think it'd look good back to the original color. BTW, why the name change?
