Spitting in another person's face, is probably right next to kicking them in the groin as far as levels of disrespect and unprofessionalism can get. Trash talking, pushing and shoving or whatever, is expected in a game, but the act of releasing saliva into the direction of a fellow nfl player is an insult to anyone who's ever played the game, but of course at worst he'll get a measly fine which will be pocket change for a guy like him..

I wasn't even aware this was still up for debate.

However, is he a spider? This is a question with some merit.

In a related story, the media has given TO a large check to continue to be outlandish, so as to continue to provide a source of frivolous news stories.

You must not watch the new often. 98% of your local news is frivolous, while only about 70% of your national news is frivolous.

Unless you watch national morning 'news' shows, in which they manage to inject over 100% of their content with frivolity. As long as they're only breaking physics laws and not decency restrictions, the FCC doesn't care.

On another note (I just happened to catch this during the 30 seconds of the game I watched), TO is in 1st place in the NFL for most dropped passes this year. The one I saw went right into his hands and he bobbled it out of bounds. Granted, he had two TD receptions, none the less, with the paycheck he receives, he should not be dropping a lot of the 15 that he did drop.

The rumor mill said that TO has a torn tendon in his right ring finger, but instead of surgery he's playing through it.

Owens also insists that a doctor recently told him that a dislocated tendon in his left ring finger needs surgery.

"I knew if I had surgery, it would end my season," Owens said. "I've worked through injuries in my career before."

That stuff happens because guys are trying to win, and is expected to happen. Spitting is a completely different matter altogether.

Even Nate Robinson's actions yesterday were done to defend a teammate, which while not excusable is explainable. There is absolutely no justification to spit on another player.

Reaching into facemasks to poke & rake across the face & eyes, fingers covered in BenGay, cleats to the inner thighs, twisting fingers, tights body shots underneath ribpads, headbutts, groin pulls, absolutely anything that players think they can get away with, including spitting.

Probably one game. I don't know how it's treated in other sports. Although, I do remember Roberto Alomar getting suspended after the post season in the 90's when he spit at some umpire. Then again, NFL season has 16 games and MLB has 182 games.

why does this surprise you?

Deangelo Hall talks just as much smack as the next DB. All I have to say is if you go around talking smack, then when people spit at you, or smack you upside the head after a play then its deserved.

A lot of NFL players talk smack. How many get spit on? (at least reported) Not much.

Talking smack deserves being spit in the face? You're a flippin' retard.
