As if HD-DVD and Blu Ray were not enough...

Hmm...two wasn't enough i guess.

I think they are a tad late to the table to be quite honest though.

yeah well at least we have lots of it. i dont like paying $10 for DVD+R DL discs maybe they should make those out of corn. as a side note there are other gimpy formats popping up here and there based on the original DVD tech such as EVD - 6GB per layer.. but those are not going anywhere for sure.

hmm that is quit intereting, however that only make things worse it's time that one universal standard be created or we will end up with another sacd vs dvda.

Afraid I couldn't find the info at the link provided. 🙁 Google provided me with this more specific link though.

So we didn't learn anything from the DVD-R vs +R wars; +R/RW seems to be pulling ahead though. Now we're going to have THREE formats to have to duke it out? How long until one of them emerges as the victor?

In 2006, the company will start manufacturing cost-effective 50 GB VMD's on Red Laser, for HDTV and Digital Cinema. With minimal changes of its technology, the company can manufacture recordable VMD as well. With future applications in sight, the company has begun developing Blue Laser VMD systems with up to 1 Terabyte capacity for high-end Digital Cinema and Video-On-Demand (VOD) applications.

50GB discs. Nice.
