Makes me wonder if the current generation would be up to making the same sort of sacrifices as they did in order to defend this country and the world. Sadly I think not.
So you're wondering if you could? ;)

I feel, given an awesome challenge like what we faced in WW2, more than enough of us would rise to the challenge. It may not be you or me but someone will be there to take to the task. Remember, the young and inexperienced do become old and wise and that group is always with us.

I'd further suggest if somehow the U.S. population was reduced to only the MTV zombie crowd, we might still prevail, given enough time for that group to shape-up, learn a few hard lessons and make some tough decisions. Sometimes reality can be a great motivator and it's always easy to underestimate people.

Too many of today's generation care for nothing more than their own safety and comfort. Even worse we have a growing minority of morons who think war for any reason is wrong and would let the world be overrun by madmen.

The world IS being overrun by madmen... Geez its been on the news and everywhere...

Nah, not testy at all. Your post has nothing to do with politics or news, and is simply a thread to attract attention. I responded with sarcasm, as did you. You seem to be trying to say if WW2 happened now, we would lose because you don't have any faith in your fellow americans and that we would do nothing. You then went on about there being more and more "morons", as you put it, that would not bother to fight if this country was threatend. Basically, you posted a bunch of crap based on your overly simplified views, and I thought it was a bit comical. If anything, you made me chuckle...

:)
While you are laughing pleaser don't choke on your superiority....I'd hate for anything to happen to you.

Nah, I'm not any better than anyone else....you're the superior one who knows how this country *should* be. ;)

Not wondering if I could....pretty sure I could....at least I would like to think that. Actually tried to join the USMC waaaay back when I was 19 but due to a heart condition they wouldn't take me.

Anyway.....I do believe there would be some who would rise up to the challenge. I just fear there would not be enough. The post WWII generations have grown up in relative luxury compared to those who came before us. We lead a pampered lifestyle and have not had to face the hardships the previous generations did. Not only that, we have also so dumbed down our school systems that most kids today don't know anything about the rest of the world. Their world ends at the tip of their nose and anything that happens outside of that range isn't seen to affect them. I dunno....I just don't have a lot of faith that the current generations could live up to what The Greatest Generation did.
