Damn man that sucks!

You could try calling Microsoft about it, see what they say. Only way to go I think.

Believe me, I'd be totally pissed if anything like that happened to me!

Only put two holes in the wall this time...and broke only one pair of glasses😀:|:Q:|:Q:|😀:|😀:|😀:|😀:|😀

I'm assuming you dont have the box then? If you do just send the cd and the box and everything else along with a small note explaining your problem.

I think some phone time with MicroSoft will bring you a solution.

They will help you very nicely when the OS is legit!

I contacted Microsoft and they said could help but I had to start where i bought the copy from.
So it'll be at least a few more days before I can put the puter online.

thanx Polo. Been toyin with the idea of Linux for some time now. The biggest detierent is that I have to use a dial-up connection and the download would take a month of Sundays.

I have set up 2 Linux boxes, one running RedHat 7.3 and one on RedHat 8.0. I have also tried Mandrake 9.0 and found it the easiest to set up and get running. I'm not sure if it isn't because it is more like Windows or not, just seems that the kernel is packed full of support for all kinds of hardware and software. I finally configured my own kernel for 7.3, to a reduced size, and it seemed to speed things up a bit.(700mhz AMD). I haven't compiled a new kernel for 8.0 as of yet. I'm not sure what special settings I would need for my dual proc server to function correctly. It runs 2 WU's at the same time on different processors and it is my main pc for e-mail(Ximain) and web browsing(Mozilla). You should try either RedHat 8.0 or Mandrake 9.0, you will learn a great deal, I did.

Good Luck,
😎

Soggy, I had a similiar thing happen with a client PC. The new computer was dropped shipped to them, along with the pre-loaded OS. They threw away the packing materials, including the Windows XP Pro shrink-wrapped media with the little sticker for the "installer...me" to apply to the tower. All gone and hauled to the landfill.... A call to Microsoft, along with a fax of the packing slip from the PC vendor and 3 days later I had a hologram sticker for the case. Good Luck!

Ive used SuSE 8.0 with some real success, only bad thing not all DC clients are available in linux form. but the ones that are, are pretty good.. the Distributed Folding one is magnitudes faster under linux. for example.
