One big thing that's a consideration is service. If something happens there isn't a service center nearby. Not in the whole state of Ohio. It would have to be shipped to official McLaren dealers in Detroit, Chicago, or Philidelphia.
Yeah, that's the real problem, even with lesser exotics.
Ever since my last Lotus service cost me 3k and caused around 10k in damages on a 30k car (and me paying the bill...), I'm now also looking into ever further afield service locations. And if you ever have a similar issue with an out-of-state service location, that's not going to make resolving such issues easier.

I'm baffled by this purchase entirely. Its not rational in any regard. Which, ok, fine, they're old and want an interesting car. But have they driven or sat in a McLaren? Or any other supercar? They're not all that comfortable and getting in and out if you're old would be a nightmare. I'd personally value comfort more.

Also, why the focus on McLaren? Is he trying to date teenaged boys, 20 something social media influencer women, or showoff to other similar aged guys at Cars and Coffee? Or did he start doing porn? That seems to be the demographics that would really focus on McLaren.

If you want something fast and fairly exotic that could be worked on, get a C8 Z06 Vette or 911 Turbo. If you want something exclusive get a restomod (like a Superperformance Ford GT) or custom build hot rod by a local shop.

Then again for this money you could afford multiple interesting cars for different uses. A cushy cruiser, a "look at me car", or any number of others. Heck, I'd probably cycle through several, buying and selling and seeing which ones I actually could/wanted to live with day to day.

How about a 4K mile GT in Papaya Spark?

That makes more sense than the other 2 McLarens at least.

I'm baffled by this comment entirely. Why is a C8 Z06 okay, but a McLaren not?

Sounds like someone has preexisting brand stereotypes.

It's down to two.

Namaka Blue '23 with 1,028 miles for $189,996.

Azores Orange '21 with 3,486 miles for $179,995.

Catch... the blue '23 has over 2 years left on the warranty whereas the orange '21 has a few months. Blue GT gets free front PPF on still perfect paint. Orange car has no PPF and a few minor rock chips already. Blue car gets free pickup for yearly service to McLaren Charlotte. It's on the owner for service transport with the orange car.

yep.

but, Orange McLaren. It's the only choice, really.

OR! I guess you could go with the 23 and get a pro wrap in papaya? Or pay McLaren many many grands to repaint it properly?

Something tells me that you are a real blast at parties.

200 for a triangle and med kit is probably worse 😀

Still, congrats, from the two I definitely preferred the blue. The right mix of understatement, cool and exoticness.

A good thing with the '23 is three years of free service. Had one already. Next two are free. Still need to pay for shipping.

I'll buy you a pint if you convince him to get a Morgan aero super sport!
It is the, hands down, best looking car ever!
