Are you one of those "I only buy games on sale" types? I bought all of those games on PC too, at launch for $50-$60. You know why? I want the developer to know that there is a market left and it's not all just "bargain bin and steam sale only!"

The idea that all games should be $10-20 is hurting it as well.

The XB1 isn't going anywhere TBH. I won't be one of them but I bet there will be more people playing Titanfall on XB1 than PC.

No, I buy games if I think I will get 1 enjoyable man-hour per dollar.

This means I would buy a 10 hour single player game as $10 or less, and a 10 hour co-op game at $20 or less.

I won't buy a 10 hour FPS for $60. That ratio is way off for my preferences.

Even with these rules, I end up buying a lot of games at launch.

Good answers. Maybe you'll one day dabble in PC gaming again if the future finds it more friendly.

A lot of the really good games are console exclusives while PCs have typically been the generic "ultra realistic FPS" or "open world western style MMORPG" niche.

I do enjoy some good PC exclusives. Path of Exile, my favorite game from last year, is PC only, although that nearly falls into the second category you mentioned.

Sure, but 1280x720 @ 30 fps >>>>>> 2560x1600 @ 0 fps when the game isn't released on that platform.

And this is why I end up owning consoles and handhelds as well as a PC 😀. Although not everybody has the money to do that.

I have to be honest, I've watched all the Eurogamer.net videos and comparisons and in real-time it's incredibly difficult to see much of a difference between these two systems. Both look pretty much about even to my eyes.

I don't think this matters as much as people think it does.

You're obviously doing it wrong. If you take a screen shot and look at it under a certain filter, at a very specific resolution, with the proper monitor, the difference between the two is night and day. You can't compare the game when it is running, that makes no sense!

Resolution (things are a bit clearer and can see more) and fps (smoother more responsive) you can tell easily on a tv, but all the other stuff is very situational. Some of it, you can tell something is different, other stuff is so minor it is like who gives a fuck.

Perhaps on your home TV you may notice some things. It's often hard to see with internet compressed videos and even screenshots at time.

I follow similar logic. I would have paid $100 for Skyrim given all of the enjoyment I've gotten out of it. Similarly, I played Modern Warfare 2 + 3 for days upon days with my friends, so I didn't mind ultimately shelling out for the DLC packs because I feel like I got my money's worth when I realized I had at least two weeks worth of time each time in the online multiplayer.

you have to watch them in super slow-mo and very specific scenes, and then the differences have to be pointed out to you. didn't you get the memo? sheesh...

Youtube is spectacularly useless for detail in video, due to the absolutely massive compression.

For a test, take a 720p home video, upload it to Youtube and Vimeo at the same time. Youtube will look like absolute hammered dog crap, while Vimeo will look fairly close to the original.

Hell the Youtube quality is so bad they could compare 360 with PC on Ultra, and it'd be hard to tell in many situations. Of course, get those on the same 1080P 65" Plasma at home, and it's beyond night and day different.

On a similar note, heaps of people still use those horribad 1366x768 ~32" "HDTV" monitors for their console gaming. And for those people, it's about as bad as Youtube vs. Vimeo, they'll never be able to tell the difference anyway 🙂 So it's not just online videos where people won't be able to tell the difference.

Xbox One is probably holding back the PS4 slightly with Cross platform games.

PS4 exlusives in the future is where the graphics will shine. MLB the Show will probably be the first great example.

Doubtful. It's going to be a long while before games will be written directly for the Console. Even Forza and Ryse spent a lot of development time without the hardware development platform to work off of. I am guessing Exclusives in late 15 or early 16 will establish the upper end of each consoles capabilities.

They will top out more quickly than that since the hardware is easy to code for compared to previous gens.

Also, if you kept up on the latest news and info...developers have said that MS was late getting dev kits out. There were PS4 dev kits available before XB1. Both games you mention just happen to be XB1 exclusives.
