<< Or are you jealous because some of us have the ballz to stand up and proudly defend our country >>

<< There exists a virtue known as pride. Something you obviously lack. >>

<< Just admit the truth that you are just too much of a panty waste to join the military, that guns and other things that make loud noises scare you. Oh look, no profile for you, imagine that. >>

uh oh another tough guy, i better watch out, you might use mean words on the internet and hurt my feelings, oh and you can see my profile now, so i guess everything is alright because that did nothing

<< I've defended our country in the military and I'll damn sure defend it against a bunch of screwballs here as well >>

i don't know how good the US is at actually defending the country, i mean they do a good job of blowing up small countries, but they kind of screwed up on that whole WTC thing

<< So exactly how should our military handle "third world countries" that attack and kill our civilians >>

i don't think the answer is attacking and killing their civilians

"i don't know how good the US is at actually defending the country, i mean they do a good job of blowing up small countries, but they kind of screwed up on that whole WTC thing"

Congratulations!

are you seriously that dense that you can't admit that the US gov't and military failed defending its citizens on sept 11?

<< Oh? and just what is true patriotism. Because I always thought it was an abstract concept. Who has the official list of specific things you have to do to become a TRUE patriot?

Lets start one:
[] Do you have 2 mini american flags, mountable to car antenas or windows?
[] Do you have 1 full size american flag mounted to the front of your house?
[] Do you have at least 5 different "United We Stand" accessory items?
[] When someone mentions a foreign nation, is your natural reponse, "lets nuke them"?
[] When someone sneezes do you reply with, "God bless you....AND GOD BLESS AMERICA"?
[] When someone disagrees with how perfect your current president is or whether anything is wrong, do you quickly label them anti-american and run away giggling like a girl?
[] Did you track down any and all people that might be Arabs by the color of their skin and beat them up in the name of justice?
[] Is your favorite song "The Pledge Of Allegiance"?
[] When someone criticizes the area they live in, is your natural (and of course, correct) response, "THEN GET THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY"?

If you answered yes to any or all of the above, then congradulations: you might be a true patriot. 😀

hahaha, sad but very true... can't decide whether to smile or frown, so here: 😕

Nader perhaps? Go Ralphie baby.

Compliments, compliments. Who is acting tough? As the old adage goes, if you can't run with the big dogs, then stay on the damn porch.

<< There exists a virtue known as pride. Something you obviously lack. >>

I could care less what you think about the government. The entire issue began with you criticizing us "flag bearers" about our avatars. Don't like it? Well too bad. Freedom of speech works both ways. I, being one of those who proudly display Old Glory, flatly declare that your opinion regarding us "patriots" is jacked-up.

<< I've defended our country in the military and I'll damn sure defend it against a bunch of screwballs here as well >>

We would have been well-prepared had it not been for a particular 8-year period.

<< We would have been well-prepared had it not been for a particular 8-year period >>

you're right, but i didn't see bush doing much to beef up defense before the 11th so you don't really have an argument there

oh, and just because i don't like bush, doesn't even mean that i like Gore, i voted for who i thought would have done the best job

<< The entire issue began with you criticizing us "flag bearers" about our avatars >>

the entire issue is i didn't see you asking for one before it became the popular thing to do, why didn't you want one before, thats what i don't understand, what does it say about what you think of the US that you need 3000 people to die to all of a sudden show this flood of patriotism

<< you guys are lame >>

most accurate post in this thread

<< This newfound patriotism amounted not to an opportunity for Americans to act as better domestic or global citizens, but to feel even more superior >>

Nice article.

Very nicely done.

<<

<< damn canadians >>

Thank you. Coming from you, I take it as a compliment.
>>

Uhhh, do you know me?

I didn't think so. You better go check your bag of milk, I think it sprung a leak.

the entire issue is i didn't see you asking for one before it became the popular thing to do

Didn't need to ask. Wore it and defended it for 20 years. Can you say the same?

why didn't you want one before, thats what i don't understand,

See above. Other members who proudly display such an avatar have their own reasons I'm sure.

what does it say about what you think of the US that you need 3000 people to die to all of a sudden show this flood of patriotism

What I've done for this great country of ours speaks for itself. How about you?

<< the entire issue is i didn't see you asking for one before it became the popular thing to do >>

The issue should be punctuation and capitalization are your friends--much like any fifth grader can already tell you.......but:

I live in the metro Detroit area. I'm a huge Red Wings fan. As a matter of fact, I've had season tickets for the previous 15 years. I also own a Red Wings window flag. Right now that flag in somewhere in my basement. At the start of the playoffs it'll take it's rightful place on my car.

Does that mean I'm not a "real" fan because that flag is in my basement today? Of course not.....and neither does the fact that a US flag which wasn't an option on this board prior to 9-11 have to do with anyone's supposed "patriotism" either. Sometimes extraordinary circumstances (such as a terrorist attack, war, or olympic dominance, whatever) encourage people to display thier patriotic feelings more profoundly than just every other day of the week, but that doesn't mean those feelings were never there.

It seems to me that you don't have any patriotic feelings for your country. That's too bad, but then again, you're probably too young yet to appreciate the opportunity this great country gives you.

Please, don't project your apathy on the rest of patriotic masses, we love our country, through good and bad. Doesn't mean I approve of everthing that goes on in your government or society, but I am thankful and I feel patriotic when I am (and because I am able to) vocalizing my dissent against issues I don't agree with.

Oh, and BTW, a flag has flown at Corn's casa since he's owned his own casa.

Anita Petersen: It is clear that like most of your countrymen, you have have an immense inferiority complex when it comes to the U.S. It is difficult to blame you, however, since you are such a worthless, whiny piece of sh|t. You could at least try to become a better human being by spending more time "fixing" yourself instead of trying to "fix" what isn't wrong with the U.S.

I've never understood why people who find other countries more ideal stay here in the US. No, this isn't a "love it or leave it" note. Simply an observation. If I found another country that fit my ideals more than the US does, you better believe I'd immigrate. Why don't you? Why stay in a country you so obviously despise? You can't stand the prevailing opinions. You can't stand the government policy. You can't stand our military stength or actions... So why stay?

It's rather like shopping at Wal-Mart every day, yet complaining about how much you hate it.

<< Of course if you were to judge the American People by posts like TexMasters then I can understand why you fell killing us would be justified. Trust me, he's an anomaly, like a calf being born with two heads except in Texmasters case it is two assholes. >>

LOL!!! So true but sad. 🙂

I've served this country with four years in the military. What have you done to protect your right to freely bash those who love this country?

What you want a cookie? Your four years earns GI bill money, a smidgen of cash, death benefits, and hopefully some experience. I can only speak for myself but I would hope everyone would give due respect for people who participate in our marvelous all-volunteer Armed Forces. But you get no more respect from me than cops on the beat, teachers in the classroom, or ministers in the pulpit. You do not hold some special place of honor, you are still just a US citizen. The best kind of citizen IMHO but you've got 278mil+ that are your equal. Bullet vs vote . . . what do you think matters more? OK, false dichotomy but protection of our fundamental concerns (Bill of Rights) comes from our hallowed, albeit imperfect institutions of government not our military.
