Artic Silver Vs. Generic Silver

I have a tube of some generic silver...actually the silver from Chemtronics. is there any real difference between the two? or is it all just hot air?

Circuit Works Silver is almost as good. Tested about 90% as good as Artic Silver. I'm using it and I like it. Remember, it's electrically conductive so put a small amount on the CPU only. It doesn't migrate or run BTW.

got some arctic silver and it only changed my temp from 41 to 38, so i dont know if that 18 bucks was worth it. I was using the stuff that came with my alpha pep66

That 3 degrees is definitely worth it. The Circuitworks stuff can cause real trouble if it touches the wrong places...it is a perfect electrical conductor which is not good. The Arctic Silver will not conduct electricity and is much safer.

I got the Artic Silver on my 650, before using it and an Delta 38CFM fan I could only manage 910 @ 1.8V now I get upto 975 @ 1.8V and it runs 7 yeah you read that right SEVEN degrees cooler than at 910. Is this combo worth it? Hell yes it is, invest the money and don't look back.

does naybody think it will help me get my celeron 466 past 700, as i am running at 700 right now perfetly fine, and actually i don't have any thermal grease on it. all i have is what was left over from that thermal pad that got stuck to my cpu from the retail heatsink.

Generic silver is electrically conductive. So if you're a messy type of person (like me) you'll want to be extra careful with generic silver so you don't short something.

That's what I like the best about Arctic silver. I don't have to worry about shorting something out if I accidentally put a drop on the mb.
