Artic Silver II

Just found some artic silver II for 8.50 with free shipping at Highspeedpc. I never got a tube cuz of the expensive price around 8 + 6 shipping. Hope it drops my temps some for my maze2, 32/42. I'm using the paste in the little packet that came with the blue orb now. Everyone probably has artic silver already but hope this helps some people.

i saw that too, good price since is 8.50 shipped. usually is 8 + shipping and shipping is at least 3.50

i usually buy my arctic silver II at bestbyte.net. they charge $7 per tube and have a flat $5 shipping charge. they also have great prices on other gear: heatsinks, fans, cables, etc. really fast shipping too.

I just ordered from everything connected on thursday(payed through paypal). Got an e-mail stating it was shipping on friday. Looks safe. A lot of other people have ordered from this place.

You know, it's starting to look bad that someone reposts this every few months. Nobody NEEDS arctic silver. I fell for it, and wish I hadn't. This will not drop your temps 10 degrees, it will only make you $10 poorer. But it fill make you feel good that you have real silver goo on your chip.

Anyhow, I suppose given the going rate this qualifies as a hot deal, and if you must, you may as well get an OK deal on it.

I agree with Darkcity. I too was pulled into the hype, and didn't gain so much as a degree over my plan Jane thermal paste. If you read any of the thermal paste/as reviews you'll find absolutely no difference.

There is also the argument that AS can actually be worse since it does have conductive properties and may connect some of the AMD traces if you slop it around.

I used the radioshack brand and decided to try the artic silver paste and my temp dropped 7 degrees, you need to apply it VERY thin and even and it will work

darkcity, the stuff does work! it will not drop your chip 10 deg C, but it does have better thermal conductivity--that is a fact. for the standard user, it will not make a difference, but for the power user/overclocker, it is better than standard thermal pads or paste.

I got a free syringe of Arctic Silver II from a friend. Deal was that I apply it for him according to the instructions, and I get to keep the rest.

So, after I became the owner of the stuff, I had to use it on my own system (and those of two other friends). Of course I followed the instructions, from using alcohol to clean the surfaces to using a razor to apply the ½-rice-grain size bit of compound. On my own system I did not see any reduction in temperature (I did a before-after). One of my friends didn't see any benefit either. The other two guys didn't do a before-after, so I don't know if it helped any.

These are just my results, YMMV.

artic silver is nice because it doesn't end up to be all ishy and stuff after a few months

and it applies alot better =)
