Artic Cooling on a 9600Pro!!!!!

I just got an artic cooler on my 9600Pro Sapphire. It performs awesome. On stock cooling I could only ever get 470/700 out of this card. Now that I have the new cooler 500/700! that is XT speed out of a pro. granted it is at 1.6v instead of 1.5v. I am going to do some more benching on it tonight and will post the results later. BTW. despite what packaging says, this cooler sucks cold air from the outside to the inside.

Not unless the fan is running backwards,

Well, it only plugs in one way so I don't know how I could have gotten it to run backwards.

I've had two and they both exhaust air. Maybe it is wired backwards fronm the factory?

well I already had to modify it so that it woufl fit my 9600 so what worse could happen by re-doing the wiring.

😕 What is this artic cooling? I experimented watercooling my GF4 ti4200. I went from stock 250-->318 and 513-->585 memory. This was done with a innovatek graph matc 2. It was a really good over clock. However I moved on to a better gfx card to overclock with.

But if I did have a 9600xt I'd definitely try to hit 615 core with that baby and since xt has better memory, try to hit 800+

😀 A pro is nothing to spectacular to write home about man. 😉

Did you try using the stock heatsink and just reapplying some thermal paste? That could be some of the difference, but probably not all.

I doubt yours is sucking air from outside and blowing it in. You can barely feel the air coming out the back because that fan sucks. When you put your hand under the fan from the inside you feel more air there but its still blowing it out the back.

well that sucks, or blows, I guess I don't know. I will be putting an 80 right next to it (about an inch away), do you think I could just remove the fan from teh cooler and make a duct from the fan to the heatshrink shroud?
