$15 off $75 coupon that started today = $64.98
$60 rebate = $4.98

Remember, there is also a memorex and the visionier 8100 that is covered by the same rebate and deal. I think the memorex one is the best buy instead of the Artec one.

Do you happen to know if the memorex rebate is for the 6136U?. The rebate form simply says "memorex 42 bit scanner". The staples page says the 6136U is 36 bit, but no other scanner is listed. Thanks in advance for any help.:)

Will appreciate if memorex or Visioneer scanners can have a negative scanner atttached to it. I am looking for a good & cheap scanner with negatve scanner adaptor.
Thanks

Neither the Memorex or the Visioneer support attachment add-ons. As someone else said you get what you pay for. The Memorex and Artec scanners are POS and not even worth the after rebate price. The Visioneer is OK , but is still low end. However, the Visioneer does include Paperport with XP support which makes it worhwile if you can get it for free after MIR.

Staples B&Ms are clearancing a lot of high end scanners and you can pickup an excellent scanner at a decent price if you take the time to look, I just picked up 4 Epson Perfection 1650s NIB for $29.97 ea this morning at a local Staples B&M.:) These are $200 Epson scanners and have a naitive resolution of 1600x3200. They even let me use a $30/$150 coupon on top of the clearance price .:)

I HAVE aRTEC SCANNER. good scanner for XP, 2000, doesn't work with 98se. really flat, visioner is a big ugly ....
make sure you hav usb port, since it has only usb connection. I paid $38 for it. If you going to order it
it is better to price match it. it comes with textbrige pro 8.0 and it's own soft & ulead photo express. Recomend.
Make sure you are not going to use it for win98se, which has bug, which causing problem with usb devices
and fix from MS did non help

I think Visionner has only 42 bit color and is BIG!
Artec is smaller and has 48 bit color.
Artec use also CSS instead of CRT

as far as characteristics Visioneer is worse. besides it is look like a blue sutecase, but if you do not have usb, visioneer the only
choice with printer connection.

Understand what? As stated clearly above they are on clearance at local Staples B&Ms. They scanned at the register as $179.90 and then the cashier entered the correct clearance price of $29.97 marked on the box. The sku is 466125,

I own a Canon 670U, Vantas 3000, Memorex 6136U, and a Hewlett Packard Scanjet 5P.

The 5P is the best of the bunch with the 670U right behind. The 5P scans in brighter, the 670U is a tad dark but can be adjusted with software to exactly match the photograph scanned. The HP by far has the best scanning software.

The Vantas 3000 is ok but the colors are too washed out to bother with. The Memorex is simply horrible, it's not even worth the effort of sending in the mail in rebate to get it for free, please don't bother. Mine is sitting in the box in my crawlspace.

The Canon 670U is still on clearance at Office Depot for $59.88 if you really want a scanner that you will be happy with. They may be hard to come by though, depending on where you live.

Must be regional. I spent half the day driving to the local Staples. They were all priced at $180.

I received mine today. Good find Captain Rebate. I have a basement full of scanners, this one's a keeper. I have tried to keep quiet when I see all of the negative posts from people who crap all over an item just because it can be had at a low price. It just kills me when all of the "experts" give their opinion on a product they have no experience with. I see it all the time on this board. Unless you personally have a chance to review a product, you don?t know its potential. The is a nice scanner and a superb value. Its virtually silent in operation, true 48 bit, buss powered, and the TWAIN driver is excellent. Yes there are better scanners, but for less than $10 shipped, you can?t go wrong.
