I have an Antec DHM-G48R manfactured Feb. 2004.

well, my dvd rom just crapped out on me, so this is a great deal for me. Sending it back to the top as its still 21.99 shipped ground, i'll report back with how i fell about it.

Is there something that special about this drive??? You can get a Lite-On DVD-ROM from newegg for about the same price.

I can't belive I'm seeing so many like responses, but I TOO had an Artec 16x DVD-ROM drive die on me about 2 years ago. I would just advise don't expect Lite-On quality.

I've had horrid luck with lite-on dvd reading performance. constant spinup-spindown-spinup-sync problems especially with scratched (ie netflix) discs where I'd just give up and put it in my NEC DVD-RW. My Artec never has these problems. They are underrated drives. SR rates them as unbelievably high DVD Read performance, higher than anyone else. CD Read performance is another thing, but who cares about that? What's the last CD you put in your computer where reading time was critical? Maybe the 5 disc install of UT2004.
