He is trying to establish his dominance by extremely micromanaging everybody. What is the best way to troll these guys without getting fired

How does this person micromanage?

At work we triage the order we do tasks based upon their importance. unimportant stuff gets left until we have time to do it. Thats the way we've been doing it since the beginning of time. When you are understaffed, i believe it's the only logical way to do things. One of my coworkers who is an older lady, been working since the beginning of time, is not the fastest amongst us. She just got pulled in this morning to be written up because she was leaving unimportant stuff for the next shift (everybody does it). So basically they are saying you must be superhuman and attend to stat tasks and stupid crap at the same time.

And he's also posting in the hallway everybody's name and how well/how bad they are performing various tasks.

some people need the discipline, but writing people up (which can be grounds for termination) and trying to embarrass is bad for morale

Oh that sucks. I had a manager like that. One way to troll these guys is overdo what he asks and never get mad or look mad, always be happy. They are looking to see what it takes to blow your top, so they can fire you, but if you are always happy and calm, it just pisses them off and there's nothing they can do.

Retards with power are the worst kind of people.

New managers some times have no confidence or respect for their employees, especially if they have poor confidence in themselves. A trust has to be built for the micromanaging to stop. Addressing it professionally over time helps.

There is a real problem with that approach. Less important tasks may never get done if you have a steady flow of more important things coming in.

To be effective, any such system has to have a time component so that less important jobs get turned into more important jobs depending on the length of time they have been waiting.

Although I sense that wasn't really the point of your post. 🙂

Submit your TPS reports daily. Then twice daily. Then, well, you get the idea...

I tell my supervisor (who is not a microsasshole) that she is swell and smart and kind; two of those are true, but hey, who's counting? She leaves me completely alone, and I get all my work done early and well.

If you are doing your work, you have nothing to worry about?

I always thought managers are suppose to be assholes by default? It's their JOB!!!
