I got some extra cash for an upgrade treat, but I cant decide what to blow it on. On one hand I can get the GeForce4 4600, and on the other I can get an Asus P4B266, 512 DDR and a 1.6A to overclock. I might go with an i850 so I can use my current Rambus Sticks, but all ive read is that the P4B is the way to go for maximum OC'ing. My current gaming system is as follows:

P4 1.7
Asus P4T
256 Rambus
GeForce3(original)
2x 30Gig IBM 75GXP
SB Live! Value

Help LOL! What would y'all go for?!:D

Would you have enough parts for an entire system if you bought the cpu/mb/ram combo, or would you just switch it for your current setup? If that is the case then I would go for the Geforce 4.

I would go with a GeForce 4 Ti 4400 and with the money you save you could get a P4 1.6A for your existing system. The motherboard you have right now is supposed to be really nice and overclock well, so I think you could get the best of both worlds.

Dude, he ain't putting no Northwood in that mobo. It is a 423pin socket.

Hmmm, that is a tough choice man. But here is what I'd do, sell your P4 1.7, P4T and memory and get your P4 1.6A, P4B266 AND 512 worth of PC2700. You should also be able to get a GF4 4400 with teh extra money you have. ;) Who says you have to pick either or? ;)

Woops!! My bad. Talk about not reading very well. I still say that you should figure out some kinda way to get a both. Well, you'll probably have to downgrade to a 4400, but you'll still have plenty of performance. You could buy the new board/CPU/RAM and send me your old stuff if you want. I'll pay shipping.....lol :)

Dude, you have a 1.7GHz computer. You won't feel the difference of an upgrade. However, an upgrade to a G4 will relly be sweet. Geforce all the way!

LIke miked83 said, you wouldn't feel any difference if you upgraded from your current 1.7 to northwood. I'd say go with the 4400 and save money for you next big upgrade. I never believe in buying top of the line cause less than 3 months later the same stuff costs up to hundreds less.
