Looks like you may not need to bother with manual tuning: https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-core-300-arrow-lake-refresh-rumored-to-feature-kf-series-skus-only

View attachment 120879

Once Intel releases that tool, you will get the best tuning possible with complete stability so the best of both worlds without any risk.
Can one button overclocking ever be better than manual tuning? AIBs tried to sell one-button overclocking with AM5 and it ended up being uniformly terrible. Not to mention Arrow Lake tuning is extremely complex compared to previous Intel gens due to the numerous bottlenecks in the architecture. I would expect this to be bad because Intel engineers took 2+ years to figure out how to fix degradation issues when overclockers had already found remedies for the problem within months of launch in 2022.

My son got his PC last night. It looks really good! They used a Lian Li case that may be a Microcenter exclusive or something. It's not even on the Lian Li website. They added some custom graphics to the bottom and back of the case too! Here is the specs and some pics. Haven't had much time to play with it yet. My son plays HS baseball and his schedule during the week is rather busy. I'm sure he'll be gaming like crazy this weekend though.

Lian Li CG237 case
MSI MAG Z890 Tomahawk
Intel Core Ultra 5 245K
TRYX Panorama 360 AIO
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR-6000 CL36
Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB NVME
Acer Nitro B580
FSP Hydro G Pro 750W
9 Lian Li Uni Fans
Lian Li Strimer Cables
Vertical GPU bracket

Wow. Being a custom PC with a custom Lian Li case, this is going to have an amazing resale value even 5 years later!

Can't wait for your updates on "out of the box" benchmarks and tuned benchmarks :)

Oh look, Arrow Lake isn't completely useless if you happen to have a game based on Unity engine: https://www.overclock.net/posts/29452597/

A bad CPU for bad games is a match made in heaven, I always say! :D

Wow, I wonder if it will be any good playing the Pathfinder RPG games. I remember beating those games on a 8700K with a GTX 1080 Ti, then a 12700K with a 3090, and finally on a 9800X3D with a 5090. The experience was dogshite the whole way with constant stuttering.

Here's the YouTube video from the upgrade. I haven't watched it yet, waiting for my son to get home from school and we'll watch it together. They did us DIRTY on the thumbnail, LOL :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Only one game so far seems to benefit from the Boost profile significantly but only at the JEDEC speed.
That's an odd outlier. 200S doesn't seem worth it when you can just run XMP DDR5-7200 and beat it. Looking at the other 200S boost numbers you posted later, in some cases, compared to XMP DDR5-8000, 200S boost is worse on minfps/1% lows.

I think it's just a quick fix until Intel can gather a few months' worth of data on how successful and reliable IPO is in the Chinese market then they might bring it over to the rest of the world.

Should have increased the D2D/NGU speed from the start it Would have been a better PR.

LGA-1851: A socket that was supposed to get 3 gen got 1 🤣

I'm still hoping against everything logical and realistic that Core Ultra 300 series will launch with hyperthreading enabled, Ring: D2D : NGU all at 40 and DDR5-10000 Gear 2, plus an extra P-core or an extra E-core cluster in 385K.
