Viper, I have no idea. I drove for 6 years without ever having to deal with an insurance company. Now, I've owned this vehicle for 6 weeks and I've already had to talk w/ the ins man twice. I think it's an omen or something :(

It happens every single year, Russ.

Get used to it.

It's the holiday season. It's good for the economy and good for the Post Office.

It sounds like you are not planning very well or you'd avoid the post office rush that happens every single year. Make sure you do your emergency mailings early in the day. Avoid Mondays, Fridays and especially Saturday.

Weigh your own packages and use high denomination stamps and the Postal Rate Chart.

Happy Holidays!

:)

If you have a 4x4 (ie: Jeep Grand Cherokee) you can do what someone I saw do at a local mall (Scarborough Town Center). He backed his Jeep right on to the snow bank on the edge of the parking lot!! His Jeep was at a 45degree angle to the ground!

That's smart...at times like that I wish I had a 4x4..no need to find a parking spot, I'll make my own!!

33-cent stamps? Ha! After the 1st, they're going up to 34-cents.

The Postal Service has to be able to buy more "Next Window, Please" signs.

Hey, I'm done. No Stress. Finished up the girls tonight so I can cruise all week hitting one daughter's Christmas program tomorrow night, the others Christmas Band Concert the next day. I feel good.

I know, I suck.

Yeah, right. I'll just tell my customers, "sorry, your shipment will have to wait because there are too many idiots at the Post Office this time of year." Get real.

Unlike these cretins who just discovered the joy of mailing, I'm there every day all year long.

I went in a post office today and had to turn around and leave cause I only had a hour break for lunch and the line was 2 people thick out the front door, and strangely the median age was about 80, I had to leave I couldn't believe I wouldn't be back at work in time from just going to the post office.

Skoorb, I am going to instruct my grandchildren to hunt you down when you're about 70, living on a fixed income and scraping up every penny just to keep your house heated, and then have 'em stand behind YOU in line at the grocery store bitching about YOU going through your change purse with your gnarled old fingers trying to find enough change to pay for a can of soup that'll have to last you two days 'cause your pension just barely covered the rent. Merry Christmas to every one of you crabby, intolerant people. :)

As for Russ - I'll wait until the last minute and you can't stop me!! Muahahahahahahahhaha!!
Okay, okay, I bought all MY stuff online too and had it all sent directly to the various people at least a month ago. :p
Charge your customers for FedEx or UPS during the Christmas season - they come to your door and pick the stuff up. Gotta love it. Tell 'em the extra three bucks or so is an "anti-insanity surcharge". :Q

Well here's some suggestions:

1) Expand your business so one of your employees can take care of mailing.

2) Switch to UPS or FedEx.

3) Calculate your own postage, get a meter/postage and have the carrier pick it up.

4) Take your annual vacation just before X-mas.

5) Post your suggestions at the post office or e-mail Ann Landers. (I am sure none of our forum members are guilty of your postal courtesy violations. ;) )

:)

I'm not Russ, but I'll try to respond to a couple of these based upon personal experience...

Well here's some suggestions:

1) Expand your business so one of your employees can take care of mailing.
This would cost money, therefore cutting me out of money

2) Switch to UPS or FedEx.
UPS is incompetent, and FedEx is expensive

3) Calculate your own postage, get a meter/postage and have the carrier pick it up.
You constantly have to keep packaging materials, confirmation numbers, and insurance slips on hand. The rate scanners aren't cheap, and you never know when the mail man is going to show up.

Was I close Russ? :D

First of all expanding your business only has to take place during the holidays. How much do you hate the Post Office during this time? Your time is money also.

UPS and FedEx have better service during the X-mas season. Plan ahead for the holidays. The other 50 weeks you can stay with USPS

Calculating postage is very cost effective for some businesses.

<< 6. Finally, MAIL EARLY DAMNIT! The Post Office is there ALL year. They didn't suddenly open the week before Christmas! >>

Fate is without a sense of irony.

Oh BTW, I know how you feel - last week I spent an hour in line waiting to mail off my little sister's package.

The only employees I use are sub-contractors for on-site work. One less pound of flesh the government pigs can get from me.

UPS is already an option. But, some customers like getting their smaller packages at half the cost for similar shipping time, or the same cost for MUCH faster.

<< 3) Calculate your own postage, get a meter/postage and have the carrier pick it up. >>

Sorry, doesn't work that way. Priority Mail Insured HAS to go the center for processing.

<< 4) Take your annual vacation just before X-mas. >>

I don't take vacations.

Mday,

Did you order a power supply? If so, and you selected UPS, that's how it shipped. And THANK YOU for selecting that option.:)

Wish me luck, I am off to PO now. Do you think I should bring any protection?
(not that kind of protection!)
