Iran has issued an arrest warrant for Donald Trump and 35 others over the killing of top general Qassem Suleimani and has asked Interpol for help, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said on Monday, according to the Fars news agency.

The United States killed Suleimani, leader of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, with a drone strike in Iraq on 3 January. Washington accused Suleimani of masterminding attacks by Iranian-aligned militias on US forces in the region.

Alqasimehr said the warrants had been issued on charges of murder and terrorist action. He said Iran had asked Interpol to issue a “red notice” for Trump and the other individuals the Islamic Republic accuses of taking part in the killing of Suleimani.

Alqasimehr said the group included other US military and civilian officials but did not provide further details. He said Iran would continue to pursue the matter after Trump’s time in office ended.

The killing of Suleimani brought the United States and Iran to the brink of armed conflict after Iran retaliated by firing missiles at US targets in Iraq several days later.

This warrant would be more believable and serious if basically anyone but the criminal bandit thug regime of Iran had issued it, though. I can't see Interpol giving it any serious thought whatsoever seriously, not when Iran is one of the biggest state terrorism sponsors in the world.

I'm with FaaR -- Iran can talk all it wants about asking for Interpol's help, but it's probably not going to aid a theorcratic regime in taking down a major politician just because. This is showboating from a country that doesn't have many diplomatic options.

yes, it's all a farce...but it would be hilarious to see the Donald fleeing to Russia in hopes that Putin will protect him from prosecution in NY, but then Putin turns him in for, let's just propose a ~$100m bounty to Iran.

Putin needs to at least collect some of the actual monetary debt that Trump still owes him.

Didn't the CIA kidnap some Muslim guy in Italy and rendition him back to the United States after Italy refused to extradite a few years back? I think those agent still have active warrants out on them, which is why they haven't left the US since.

He has lifetime Secret Service protection, but shit happens.

Nowhere in your source does it say that Interpol is processing the warrant, only that Iran has asked for their help. In fact, the source article has been amended to say " Interpol said it would not comply with the Iranian request."
 
Call it clairvoyance, prophesizing or whatever.. but I don't think he'll stay in the shithole he created and will be happy to leave for a 100% ethnic white country - Russia!

He'll be very shocked when he arrives and finds out they think he's a big fat joke because they were able to manipulate him and ruin America in the process. He won't be getting much respect over there, and no protection. He's a tool and he long since served his purpose.

I'll sign it, yes it couldn't actually happen. But imagine Trump seeing a petition with a million plus signatures. He would lose it on Twitter and that would make me smile.
