Around where you live, how fast do you drive on a road with a 55mph limit?

I usually go 60-65, unless it is out in the country then I will do 65-70 (sometimes even up to 75-80). My van has a hard time going above 80mph 🙂

70 in a 55 is pretty much the "minimum speed" around Atlanta. Slower than that and you'll get run off the road.

depends on the road and conditions

there are 55mph roads around here where everyone does 75

In a populated setting, usually no more than 65.

In the middle of nowhere, 75-80.

Chicago expressways, fastest lane (usually 75-90 when not busy).

the main road i take to work is patrolled / 65 Mph
the part where it drops to 55 mph closer to the city isn't so much

depends what I can get away with, If nobodies looking, maybe 80km/h in a 50km/h zone, out on the open road with 110km/h limit usually I add another 0 and try to beat it, I know the local roads Like the back of my hand so I know where all the fuzz sit and can slow down before they see me, with that said I don't endorse speeding, but it's an old habit, which like smoking, is impossible to beat!

On the interstate with a limit of 55 I'll drive 70, but that is rare around here. On a Highway with a limit of 55 I'll drive 60-65.

Ideally it would be about 60-65. Normally, I'm stuck behind a huge-ass construction vehicle or some old guys heading out for breakfast, so it's between 50 and 55.

I almost never do any more than 5MPH over on any road.

The risk just ain't worth the reward.

Depends on the road and conditions. Rarely do the roads around my area support more than 70. And doing that is likely to bag you a deer the hard way. (almost every turn is a blind one)

59 MPH.
[*]Around here the fine for 1-4 MPH is virtually nothing, but the fine for 5-10 MPH is significant.
[*]Most judges here will through a 1-4 MPH ticket out of court since there are so many factors that may lead to a misread speed.
[*]Finally, I know the city cops are forbidden to write 1-4 MPH tickets as they are a waste of time (state cops can though).

Of course if the road is congested or icy, I'll drive slower.

With my radar detector up, I'd gun it to 85 assuming it's open roads with at least 2 lanes. Single lane, I'd be a bit more careful around bends.

53-55, depending on traffic.

Yeah, I'm THAT guy. I'm not doing anything wrong, though.

Just west of Detroit, Dearborn/Taylor area.

Speed limit here is 80km/h on most roads... I usually drive around 100, 110...

Highways are 100km/h... dont usually go over 120...

Depends. If it's 4/5-lane I-95 along Boston's Rt.128 belt, I do 70-75. If it's 2-lane Rt.9, near my house, I do 55-60. As the question was "around where you live", that's how I answered the poll.
