Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, have separated, with Shriver moving out of their Brentwood mansion while the two determine the next step in their 25-year marriage.

Shriver has been residing apart from the actor-turned-politician for the last few weeks. The former first couple confirmed the separation in a joint statement released Monday after questions were raised by The Times.

"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the statement read. "After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship.

OP, the woman is 55 years old and a mother of 4. You will be lucky to have a wife who looks like her at that age. Only, you won't have Scwarzenegger's money to buy an upgrade...

He did an interview recently where he said he was appalled at how he looked now. I believe the quote was he looked in a mirror and said "what the hell happened here?" or something along those lines.

Well, you've got to figure that all those muscles deflated and left a lot of extra (disgusting) skin. More reason why bodybuilders are gross. Get hot, get muscles, awesome. But the level he was at...fucking gross.

I use to lift weights in my early 20s when muscle was all the rage (in my head). Now I mainly do cardio and natural weight exercise (ie pull ups, push ups and dips). Haven't been in a gym in 5 years.

I think that pic was after heart surgery and he could not run or exercise for like a year.

Besides, double standards exist while a women's stock may go to shit after 50 a man's is predicated on bank account to a large degree. Arnie could bang em like Tiger if he wanted even looking like that..

Aren't those the pictures at the beach after the surgery he had? I heard he started working out again after that.

My wife predicted they were on the rocks a couple of years ago...then a couple of months ago when she did some television program...like she was testing the waters to see if she could still do the news.
As I remember, she was dead set against him running for governor. With the Kennedy history in politics, I can't say I blame her...but he ran anyway. Then, when he wanted to be re-elected, she came out against that as well. I suspect that politics are the major cause of the split.
