the last stand was awesome, loved every minute of that movie. just an all around fun movie. arnold looked OOOLLLLDDDD in it though, he's gonna need a lot of makeup for the new terminator.

Never saw T4 (didn't even know one was out...)

T3 was better than I expected, funny in a good way

T2 = favorite movie of all time

Nah they could spin it so easily - one of the Terminator models got damaged and the physical skin regeneration process stopped working due to a system malfunction, resulting in robo-wrinkles :D

T4 = The Batman dude was the main character John Connor in a grit and dusty future and McD was the director (he messed with the film on purpose to get that gritty and grimmy feeling), not bad but not as good as T2. I don't think anything in this franchise will ever be as good as T2.

Are you sure we are talking about the same movie? I watched it and it did have some good moments ("How do you feel Sheriff?...."I feel old"), the overall movie would be about 6 (at max) out of 10 from me.

He IS old, almost 66 (born in July of 1947).

the aging synthetic skin idea works but isn't that creative

they could very well introduce a human character that skynet based the terminator off of

they could also just do a ton of battle damage like at the end of T2

then there's always the CGI route they took with Salvation. Between body doubles and CGI, and then the fact that the Terminator is almost always wearing full on leather, there's really only the face, which can be covered up with makeup and sunglasses and of course touched up in post processing

another plus is the terminator Arnold has played has traditionally been more of a tank than any sort of agile ninja assassin, as squishy human meatbags really don't take much to bring down...and thus the physical acting doesn't require much

T4 was terrible. should have been the death of it all.

But if James Cameron has more say in this...who knows?

T4 was by far my favorite- I think T2 is actually the one I like the least. The problem I have is the kid, I absolutely hate the kid in it. I found he was a bad actor and it made him look like a petulant child with daddy issues the entire movie.

Incidentally though, I really liked 3 so I fall in the minority for this series.

If James Cameron is onboard, this could be really good. Please, please do not get Damon Lindelof to write the script, and please do not cast Shia LeBoof in any role.

Well..that was exactly what he was supposed to be..so I guess he pulled it off??

Didn't the Reeses guy basically say in the first film that the machines were defeated? The humans won, and their sending back a terminator to kill Sarah Conner was like their last ditch effort to turn the outcome around.

Seems like by now it should be pretty settled.

The crane chase scene is great, amazing effects or maybe most of it was destruction of actual buildings on the set. Also liked it when the psychiatrist saw the return of the terminator, and when the Arnold terminator would only answer questions from the human girl. But most of the rest was not so great and had to laugh at it unfortunately like when the female terminator's catsuit emerged unblemished after fire/shock/blunt force pummelings.

^^^ Agreed, love the crane chase. T3 was flawed, but had some great moments. Some funny ones too, like when the car is falling apart as they pull into the campsite and Arnold says "we need a new vehicle".

Man Terminator Salvation sure gets ripped on a lot but I thought it was great.

This new one could definitely be good if Cameron is involved.

EDIT: And agreed on the crane chase scene! First time I saw that I was like "holy shit".

Arnold was awesome in the day. But he's just far to old to pull these movies off anymore. I suppose they could CGI the heck out of him though.

First Terminator is a classic. Second film is good, but Furlong is annoying. After that, the series went down hill.

If they won't use Lindelof to pen it, then for God sakes get Shamalamadingdong to Direct it.

We need the best minds in the business working on this project.

And of course Taylor Kitsch should co-star.

T4 was terrible, starting from the idiotic motorcycle terminators through asinine scenes like the ones at the gas station (grandma offering good to little girl... oh i get it "humanity", how deep and totally not a dull, forced 2 minute time filler).

OK, T5. Arnold plays an old aging guy that is the real brain behind Skynet. Ultimately, Skynet has made many critical mistakes that a supercomputer shouldn't make. It would be the mad scientist behind the scenes that is overriding Skynet because he wants to be the one in control of the world.
The premis of the movie can be that he knows skynet is planning on taking him out of the equation because of his meddling, and skynet wants to finally erradicate humanity. Arnolds character would then be forced to get the resistance's help and give them key info on destroying skynet so he can save his own ass.

cool, I always like Schwarzy.

I liked the last stand, it was just an action movie though, nothing more.
