So, when's your first day of Basic?

It's not about that. It is about respecting and appreciative of those that did join.

Some people here are too worthless to even give them the credit that they deserve. And as usual spout off with some random stupidity.

Gee, I wonder who that could be!

It couldn't be Irwin, his stupidity isn't random.

I think they should pay at least what our congress persons make. I mean the risk of getting your ass shot off, being told what to do 24/7, and sleeping on cots and eating MREs is worth at least that probably much more. But our congress critters are too tight with the money is the only reason we've had a shortfall these last couple years. Instead relying on bogus chanting of "patriot duty" for thier numbers w/o putting thier money where thier mouth is. how about they be more patriotic and how about they make a sacrifice and devote more dollars to the troops doing all the dirty work??
And yet, amazingly, people still enlist, despite not getting paid $150k+ and being well aware of the risks involved. Imagine that.

I want a draft, it would be great to have recruits from all walks of life, not just poor minorities and trailor trash.

I'm in, as long as I can get my 50 minerals and 25 units of vespene gas. Gonna need some heat resistant armor to stand the Iraqi desert...

"Of all the statist violations of individual rights in a mixed economy, the military draft is the worst. It is an abrogation of rights.

You pay taxes to support the government right, the government that is supposed to fairly represent a group of people and give them the best living conditions possible? Well you might have to fight for that government too....though in the current situation I'd say the government is horribly corrupt and Iraq is not a battle that someone should be forced to fight, the draft should only be necessary for defense, though Bush did try to make it seem like Saddam was a serious threat to the US.

Just an FYI for you folks who think the Army didn't deflate their recruitment goals for June 2005. I've been searching for info on the June 2004 goal and finally found it in the following USA Today article.

The Army's success in June can be partly attributed to modest expectations. The June 2005 goal was more than 1,000 recruits lower than the June 2004 goal.

Army recruiting up for June but still down for year

If the Army is trying to close the gap in recruitment in order to reach its yearly goal by the fiscal year end in September, lowering the goals below 2004 levels is a very strange way to do it.

Admit it folks, no one is joining up to fight Bush's bullsh!t war in Iraq.

Bbond, not only are the recruiting goals down from 2004, but they keep going down month after month after month as well.

More from the USA Today article, DH.

Despite the improvement, the Army has only three months left to recruit the soldiers needed to meet its yearly goal. That's an average of nearly 11,000 per month.

Through the first nine months of this fiscal year, the Army has averaged about 5,200 recruits a month.

It's not going to get any better. The neocons have to realize that their time is nearly up. That is, unless Bush's new "Iraq Nationwide Tour" is just as successful as the Social Security one.

All they have to do is setup recruitment booths outside every evangelical church. These people are in love with the war and praise their idol Propagandist. Surely they'll send their brood off to fight in this glorious war.

And my daughter's sorta ex-boyfriend is about to go through his basic training and then he'll be off to the Middle East, I'm sure.
