The verdict info is in the link if people were interested in the details.

The Superior officers are not going to reduce the sentence.

The limited appeals will not avail - he handed the prosecuters the rope to build his noose.

He is not being sentenced to life nor the death penalty. Therefore Obama is not going to step in to overturn the sentence.

IF he does; it will generate an implict acknowledgement of
  1. the initial reason were correct - Bithers have some ground
  2. disobeying orders is acceptable due to political orientation
Obama has already discharged Flag officers for their political statements that disagreed/challenged the WH strategy. He will not extend a Free Pass to field grade officers

Seems like a fair sentence to me, but it sure is a waste to have a doctor sit in prison doing nothing for six months. The man is an idiot with no sense of responsibility until the hammer starts to fall.

But maybe we miss somewhat of the point, the normal garden variety nut is free with impunity to believe a birther or a flat earther, or what ever wackiness that strikes their fancy.

But as soon as one joins the American military or any other military, suddenly that somewhat God given right of free thought can result in jail time for the military member yet the equivalent civilian is merely thought to be a nut.

nothing to do with the military. it has to do with disobeying orders from your superior.

If you're at work, and your boss tells you to do something, and you tell him no, because you don't believe he's an american citizen and therefore doesn't have the authority to tell you what to do.... watch how fast your ass is escorted out the building.

As he bloody well should, you can't have a commander that commands disloyal troops, just shut the fuck up and follow orders, shit talk about your superiors should be kept for after service ends unless there is a direct neccessity to take it up and then it should ONLY be adressed with the commander you have a problem with or if he is higher up in the command chain, it should be adressed to commanding officer and if he believes it's valid he'll take it up, if not, he'll mention it in a report.

I completely agree with Obamas policy on this one, but that's mostly because it is needed and it doesn't concern me at all. ;)

No, son, you can still think what you want, but you may not express it nor does your free thought excuse you from the ramifications of the contracts you signed as you entered it.

You get to do what you are told to do, that's what you get to do and as long as an order isn't illegal, you are legally obliged to follow it under military law, all this is explained to EVERYONE who has ever signed the contract.

For some it's a bit different but for most that is what it states.

A twat of a doctor didn't want to go do what he was trained and paid to do for 17 years...

Just fine him for 17 years worth of pay and be done with it...

The penalty he got is a joke and it's not a funny one.
