I agree, they should have arrested him a long time ago. I get defusing the initial standoff but I would have come back two weeks later and arrested his ass. It was foolish of them to think that letting them get away with that wouldn't embolden more people to try the same thing or worse.

His compound has been staffed with dozens of "freedom fighters," heavily armed and ready to eat bagels--er, lay down their lives for the old man (who supposedly spends 90% of his day napping, interrupted only by sporadic bouts of finger waving and garbled constitutional pronouncements aimed at his toaster ovens) should any Federales approach his ranch.

Glad it's finally over. Charge them with whatever they can and punish as harshly (financially too) as they can.

Interesting, I didn't know that. If this was the first time he ventured off his ranch in a meaningful way I guess that would explain things, although I still think leaving him be for so long has inspired people to try and pull more of the same.

The standoff at the ranch has been an ongoing situation. Bundy's arrest shows that they haven't gotten away with anything. Quite the contrary. Those who participated & walked away have to be sweating, a lot. They can be busted at any time while the statutes of limitations apply. Tazed or pepper sprayed in the face at the grocery checkout before they can pull a gun, for example, or while taking a piss at the beloved patriot tonk with their dick in their hand.

True, but I think the FBI handled this properly. They could easily have turned this into a bloodbath, but now with it being handled mostly peacefully it hasn't become another Ruby Ridge or Waco. And this if coming from someone who wouldn't have had a single issue had the FBI just gone in guns blazing to ensure any copycats would think twice in the future. Probably why I don't get to make decisions like this.

Some they will. The FBI was actually criminal ignorant this morning. They just arrested Blaine Cooper, and Odalis and Victoria Sharp got on the phone and were screaming at the 4 left at Malheur to not surrender, and for thousands of sovereign citizens to go to Malheur right now.

I call bullshit. As I stated in the very beginning of this nonsense, if these terrorists were muslim or black or, dare I suggest, black muslims, there would have been body bags dragging out the corpses weeks ago.

But being good ol' boys, they were allowed to continue to play army.

I heard on one of the broadcast clips that they were screaming "We are innocent Americans camping on public property and you were sent here to kill us you Nazi fascist sonsofbitches!!" and then kept repeating the innocent Americans thing. Guess what assholes, you don't get to take over Federal land and properties with guns, threaten to kill law enforcement agents and still call yourselves innocent when said law enforcement agents show up. Just doesn't work that way. Frankly you should all consider yourselves damn lucky that you aren't all well perforated already.

They had a few black gangbangers around here who had evidently started saying that they were going to shoot any cops who came after them. They sent the SWAT team after them with the quickness.

You can call what you want, there is not a circumstance like this involving black people. So he and your try to say it would have been handled differently is silly. I think thraashman is right, they've learned a lesson from the past. Like him I wouldn't have had a problem with them taking it by force, but time was on their side. They couldn't harm anyone but themselves in there. People always inserting race when it doesn't belong in everything is more of a problem, imo.
 
They're 30 miles from the nearest town.
There'd be a lot of dead bodies if they had chosen a populated location.
FBI has nothing but time given the circumstances.
Time used to draw others out.
