Armed and Dangerous - LucasArts ... Yes!

apoppin

Lifer

UPDATE: a total blast and funny as hell .... a 'shooter'

with anytime save

===========================

i really liked Giants: CK but *hated* the fact that it was 'checkpoint save' ... and never finished it

i see Armed and Dangerous at B&M CC for $9.99
[i picked up another more intensely *real* game - TaxCut Fed & State for $19.99 after MIR ... but that is for another time and place]

so i bought it 😛

open it? worth a play?

anytime save i *hope*?
:Q

it is from Dec 03, so it should look ok with native WS [stretch] support

well, i *need* a laugh "in between" playing "TaxAxe" 😛
[i got 'till the 17th to 'finish' ... or postpone it till Aug 17]

😀

does A&D have anytime save? .... or suck?

i can always return it BEFORE i open it 😉

ten buck is ten bucks

hehehe, on the plus side, TaxCut supports widescreen!

so does this forum ... and ...

... search *Sucks* ... so i couldn't find anything on A&D ... and my memory IS short

the reviews were mixed ... they said it was hard ...

i really loved the humour from Giants CK ... but cannot stand replaying whole sections over just because of a [stupid] 'anytime save' lack.

you DO know why they call it "tax cut" ?

you screw up and the IRS gives you the Axe 😛

I think I remember you can save anytime; but if you turn the game off, you'll restart at a checkpoint... so it's probably not EXACTLY what you're looking for. But hey... for $10, it's a damn good game with a wacky sense of humor, and some comically disgusting parts!

it IS what i wanted to hear 🙂 ... thank-you

i can live with that save .... it's the inability to save *except* for checkpoints that i detest as a time-waste.
--i just don't want to play over-and-over [and over ...] just to mess up at the *last step* immediately before the autosave :|

rrrrrrip

[game package being opened]

actually i am *postponing* my filing - i don't owe 😀

... A&D will give me something to play when i am not playing 'Shivering Isles'

thanks for the many thumbs up ...

i have just finished a *serious* game, STALKER and an set to play both SI and then RE4 [with a controller, yeah!] ... which are also pretty *tense* ...
so i am looking for a laugh and a "fun shooter" to unwind ...

Tron2.0 still didn't cut it for me [still looks too 'serious' also, as i progressed a bit] ... so i set that aside ... and FEAR's Expansion Point is so much more of the *same* i doubt i will bother ... unless i run out of anything to play ... i actially*forgot* all about it as it set it down if favor of STALKER

so ... the *stars* guided me to A&D 😛
:moon::sun:

right near TaxCut:F&S :Q

😀

thanks again ... i'll bump this if i ever finish it

I enjoyed it - it was a must-buy after I watched the trailer. Gameplay was good, although a bit repetitive, and I'm not a terribly big fan of the checkpoint system. The humor made it all worthwhile, though.

Another game to play for the humor - Pyschonauts.

hold on ... isn't there at least a 'limited' "anytime save"? :Q
😕

I thought it was a checkpoint system, but it has been a few years.

does anyone actually *know* ... i am NOT opening it until i find out
😕

the reviews all mention the xbox version only has checkpoints ... they never say anything about the PC version 😛

just say 'No' to checkpoint only saves

with my fingers ... my psychic abilities are low right now 😛

how do you type?

"Unnaturally Speaking"?

😀

What's the problem with checkpoint save? you must get really annoyed with consoles...

To me it's a challenge - if I can't complete the section in one go I have to do it again. Takes me back to the days of really challenging games like Prince of Persia where you had an hour to finish, and if you die, you start the whole game again! I like the concept so much I hardly ever use the quicksave button on games like Quake 4.

let me explain ... i played the very first consoles

when you are *young* and have few responsibilities, you have no problem *mastering* a game ... it never bothered me to play over and over *as necessary* to get to the next checkpoint

and we *had* to ... the consoles were limited in their memory how they could save

as i got more responsibilities, i began to hate the waste of time in *replaying* just for "perfection"

who cares ... i want to be *entertained* ... not endlessly challenged ... and i STILL want to see the Ending

i think any game with anytime save *only* should be boycotted[period]

there is no excuse for it anymore

and the devs that still implement it can go to hell :|

just my opinion

Wow, that's a completely different philosophy from me - I don't care about the ending of FEAR or Quake or Far Cry or whatever. You kill a big monster and the good guys win. Big deal. My idea of entertainment is getting that perfect headshot at that really difficult guy.

I suppose with adventure/RPGs it's different, then I do care about the story, but I still don't want to just breeze through it. Might as well be watching a movie, except with crappy visuals and worse acting.

Do you play on easy/normal mode? I always go for veteran/hard.

LOL.

i *guess* you are a lot younger than me and probably feel it is "important" to play on hard ... with the satisfaction of thoroughly beating a game ... as i did ... 20 years ago 😛

in fact that's how i felt about Oblivion - last year !

you could crank it to the hardest difficulty and i still could breeze thru it completely understanding the games mechanics [technically i am also "cheating" in SI since i am using the games mechanics to beat itself ... for example, Xan just dusted 'the Guardian' in a single easy try] ... but then i really *like* Oblivion

most games i could care less 😉
i certainly *can* beat any game but i don't think they are very *important* to my life -
-except as 'entertainment'

i just wanna watch the movie unfold ... yep that's it 🙂

mostly on 'normal' difficulty ... or wherever the enemy NPC's AI is 'maxed out"

NOW ... can *anyone* PLEASE tell me if A&D has an "anytime save" ?

:lips:

dude, just play it. its a good game. even if there was checkpoint saves, they're not that far apart.

yup yup. And besides, it was ten bucks. TEN DOLLARS. Would it really be that devastating if you opened a $10 game and it sucked? Or maybe there's a playable demo out there you could try first?
