I picked up ArmA II and everything that goes along with it thanks to the Steam sale. It's intrigued me for some time, and figured to finally jump in. While the buttons are a little funky, it seems to be what I wanted the original Operation Flashpoint to be.

One weird thing though, when I was going through Basic Training in vanilla ArmA II, I headed out to the explosives range after driving a vehicle. No problem, blew up two tanks then was fumbling with the interface to grab a Javelin missle to take out the third. It took me too long, but as I was doing this, I heard gunfire. Figured it was just some people training, then I look over and the commanding officer is in prone position. Der? Bug? I continue, take out the third tank finally with the Javelin, and then turn around and he's dead.

Then I see some masked dudes taking cover behind the car I drove over. They killed me. WHAT.

Weird, but kind of awesome too.

yea if you take too long at that training mission - the next training mission comes to\at you with loaded guns.haha
-I never finished the SP was waiting on new hardware and patches and never got back into it.-it's on my list of games to finish.
-not a rail shooter for sure , no big arrows in the sky saying go here.
-wait until you command your guy's to drive you 5km ,then the AI takes a short cut ,turns off the road into a 100yd wide hydro cut ,then's runs into the only pole in the open field.
-it's a huge under taking , learning the game controls and limits of their use\commands.
but it's fun and wow at the same time.
good luck.

Ah yeah, that makes sense because that was the other option for training. Who knew they'd grow impatient and KILL MY OFFICER.

I either skipped the training or didn't have that problem.

ARMA II was stupid hard... yet so rewarding. The last level was just the most retarded thing ever, especially because I kept dying randomly inside my tank.

I remember that portion, right after the part you were on, you are supposed to take some training against pretend terrorists. They normally didn't "aggro" until you moved to the next station but I'm guessing with patches and changes to the AI, maybe they discovered you and made their way to you instead. So my take = bug.
