Arkaign on a thread necro spree

And Darkstar, and shortylickens...

It's annoying, because you don't know if you're wasting your time until you click on the thread and check the OP date. I guess they think it's funny for some reason.

If you tell us you're going to do something, I'll just click the report button on the posts that bump the threads. I reported one, but I didn't want to bug you with a bunch of reported posts if you're not going to do anything about it.

Once or twice is mildly amusing. Over and over again is just a PITA.

Agreed... i liked it better when the search was broken.. people couldnt find 4+ year old threads.

Threads > 1 year need to be archived.

I think people should only be reprimanded for necroing threads in the tech subforums, social subforums should be ok. The fad will die soon anyway.

First people were to lazy to look in other forums for posts. Now we are to lazy to look at dates?

Nothing to do with lazy.

It's cluttering up current posts with posts that are completely dead and buried.

All the poster does is necro a thread, and we get 10+ replies going "who necroed this thread... why was it necroed... BAN... "

How would you like it if the newspaper decided to post articles that were 20-30 years old, and in small tiny fine print put "this article first published 20 years ago"

but... lets make it 90 articles that are 20 years old and irrelevant.. with 2 articles that are current.

i guarantee that would cause them to lose subscribers by the millions.

Hehe, didn't know this was so frowned upon, but I get the picture, no more necro from me 🙂

edit : lol I think this is the first time I've ever been directly named in a thread title, thanks Larry 😉

Damn. You folded faster that a $3 suitcase.

I think you should have been banned a long time ago.
Please fill this report and send it back to me.

Hahaha, well you can't fight city hall, and I was done with the necromancy anyway.

A warning/sticky would be nice, it's not like I instantly necroed like 50 threads. I think there was 1 in cpu (the one about prescott), 1 in video (about a 6800), 1 in general hardware (helping a user with problems from 2004), and 2 in OT (one about SARS, the other about Let's invade Iraq). This was inspired by KeithTalent's post-your-first-post thread. It was certainly not intending anyone any harm or insult.

Yeah don't archive threads older than a year, just crack down on necromancers. Sometimes a bump really is prudent, like the acemcmac updates, etc.

I see. So if you think it's ok to bump it it is but if somebody else wants to you will whine about it for not meeting your standards of bump-merit. If you could come up with a flow diagram on when it is or isn't ok to thread bump it would make it a lot easier on the rest of us. Why you had to make a second thread in the personal forum about this is beyond me. This one was fine. Stop spamming.
