Thats a stretch. They do regard him as a religious figure, much like a prophet, but do not believe him to be heretical (well, many do not), just not the "chosen one". My sister and brother in law are Jewish and we have discussed this a lot.

I'm on the phone with a very good friend of mine in Israel. Going on a 3 hour conversation regarding religion at the moment, coincidentally. I just asked her. I don't care what you say :p Jews reject Jesus; they regard him as a false prophet.

Whatever you say, though, bro.

I'm fairly sure Jews come in more than one flavor...

Yup. And I'd trust that a Rabbi in Jew-Central knows more about the religion than some coat tail jew convert here in the states :)

THIS JUST IN!!!!!!NO ARK FOR YOU!!!

babelfish>"They are not here for giving of the tests that Arca is in Ethiopia, but are here in order to say what I have seen, what I know and that I can testify. I have not said that Arca will be shown the world. It is a mystery, an object of cult?.

Jews do not recognize jesus in a religous sense at all any more than they recognize mohammad in a religious sense. Muslims however consider Jesus to have been a prophet.

I saw the nat geo special on this a few months ago. If you are expecting the Ark like in Indiana Jones, you are going to be very very disappointed. It is nothing like that. It is a large wooden shape, almost like a bowl. It was used for religious purposes and was said to be used before a battle as a form of good luck on the coming battle. It did not contain stone tablets and was not made of gold. Now it is just a hunk of wood. No writing, no gold, no anything, just a bowl.

It really bares no resemblance to the biblical Ark except that it was part of a religion.

yes, becuse "It is a mystery, an object of cult" and he's was never in Italy to reveal it in the "optical" sense but rather in the "audible" sense.

So wait... if they're not going to show the Ark... what was the announcement for? They were announcing that they would announce that they had the Ark?

I may not be religious, but I was at least hoping to see a really shitty, blurry, camera-phone pic of a gold box.

Unreliable news source; after I realized where the news was from I wasn't expecting much.

I can foresee another Dan Brown novel in the making soon to be a major motion picture by Richie Cunningham.
When they finally open the ark, they'll find it full of M&M's.

The show on nat geo with the professor that discovered it showed the Ark. He was not allowed to bring it out to study it, , but they sent a video camera back and showed it on national tv, so not sure what the big story is. Maybe that the church is accepting it is the Ark ? Where before the professor only speculated ?

To me it looked to be about 2.5 feet long, 1.5 feet wide, very bowl shaped, no square corners, no cover, nothing inside, looked like it had a place for where poles could have been used to carry it, but was severely damaged, so the edges were really ragged and chipped.

The story on how this particular Ark got to Ethiopia would make a great movie. It wouldn't need to have religious messages. Just the historical facts alone on how it got there are interesting. If I remember right from the documentary, it was moved about 15-20 times to get to where it is. Every time someone got close to it, they moved it.

I won't say anything for certain. If it blows a continent up, for all we know it could have been placed here on earth by space aliens (LOL). My bet is on it being a historical artifact, forgery, or a combination of both. But I wont put money on it, because I'm not a stubborn know-it-all and it could screw me over.

Being that it's a Jewish artifact, why is the pope getting involved?

Once Jesus switched teams all the jewish artifacts came with him.

No non-compete clause FTL.

Get it in writing people!
