ARK is coming out in August, and they just doubled the base price.

Most games increase their price when they release like that but not that long out not to mention they don't double in price but remember this is ark and they have a terrible history.

Never mind how long they were in EA for.

Two years.

Which is WAY better than most early access games on Steam right now.
I own several that have been in early access for a long time and dont have any indication they will ever be finished.

Why is this an issue? This is 100% normal. Early Access prices are ALWAYS lower because you have to deal with it being a beta.

Ill wait till its $10-20 GOTY or whatever edition in a year or two with all the DLC. This is pretty much my SOP now with games that have day one DLC. Im not going to pay full price for a game on launch day and start buying DLC day one, thats just insane IMO i dont understand why devs do this, it just screams we are greedy and released a game with stripped down story/features just so we can sell DLC day one to add stripped story and features back.

I think one of the main issues is the game is still very buggy and unoptimized that many have.

Oh I agree that the game engine is complete junk. And should not actually be released. I was just stating that the price increase is pretty normal.

I wouldnt pay more than $20 for this game as it sits now, and that includes the BS "DLC" they added. The graphics optimization needs - ANY - work, at 1080P my 1500mhz 980Ti should be able to play it flawlessly with no AA, im lucky if I dont dip below 40fps in the jungle. Overall the game is fun, but not $60 fun, and all the PVP servers are annoying, and the PVE ones are equally annoying, but in different ways (people spamming pillars so you cant build anywhere etc..).

Agreed, game still needs a massive amount of work. Also, the only way I've found enjoyment out of it was to run my own dedicated server, which means more cost whether I use my hardware or someone else's. Pub servers seem to be more toxic than LoL somehow.

The Long Dark had a massive price increase about a month ago as well . . . still looking to be a great game, but as for ARK . . . I have played a little of it some time back.

Looks to be promising, but since it's in my Library already this doesn't have a great impact on me . . . however, $60 to me is a bit steep for a Steam game . . . would definitely wait for a big sale before grabbing this, or at least take a shot at getting it on a trade site.

Personally, got eaten several times and pooed too much, but the game's the game.

.

Tried it out on a free weekend steam thing last year, ran good enough, looked nice just not my game.
I do salute them doing it right. Early Access is sold cheaper than full release.

If full release meant anything I'd agree, but it's just a label. Ark is half-baked junk, every time a major issue comes up they release another couple dinos and hope everyone gets distracted by the shiny. There are a lot of dinos available now.

ITS OUT!

Has anybody played the release version?
Or did everyone get tired of the beta and move on to other things, forgetting this entirely?
